About this Cook
I'm a 21 year old college student. I live with my wonderfull boyfriend, Shawn. I love cooking for him since he's so far away from home and his mom's cooking. Being military, he's stationed here in Texas, but his family is in Ohio. I try to keep him from being too homesick! That's kinda how I got into cooking. I usually cook every night and that's how I discovered how much I love it!
My favorite things to cook
Well...anything new. I like trying different things, but I love cooking with lots of veggies and spices. I am obsessed with sweets, but I don't think I make much of a baker...I'm trying though!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Gumbo okra, homemade Texas Chili, and a great veggie stew (all my mom's). My grandmother's the baker, but like I said, I don't think she passed on the gift...she's a fabulous baker though! Cakes and pies and cookies...oh my!
My cooking triumphs
Jalapeno Turkey Fettuccini Alfredo. Yum! My peppermint truffles that I made at Christmas were probably just delicious because they were chocolate...anything chocolate is good!
My cooking tragedies
:-( Meatloaf. My first meatloaf. Sounds so SIMPLE, right? Nope...forgot the egg...didn't cook it long enough. But Shawn must love me because he ate it anyways! (I now make mini ones in muffin tins so they cook faster and we can save them in single servings. That was a great piece of advice I got off this website.)

Chicken Avocado Pizza
It's a decent recipe, and my boyfriend loved it, but there was something missing. I would probably make it again if he requested it.

Sugar Coated Pecans
These were addicting. The more they cooled and got crispy, the better they were. I will be making a ton of these this Christmas!

Cordon Bleu Casserole
It was good, but next time I think I'll just make a traditional cordon bleu.
