Sunday Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I thought these tasted good, but I could never get them to roll out. I ended up making drop rolls instead of crescents and they were not as airy as I expected.

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I could never get these to be anything but way too greasy and shiny for fondant. Not great for making a nice looking cake, but the flavor was tasty. I ended up tossing most of it and using just a little to make accents on top of some brownies.

Garlic Broccoli Spears

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I thought they were delicious. I followed another reviewers advise for taking it to a party and it turned out great. I took the broccoli and dressing separate. Heated the broccoli up a few minutes in the microwave and them tossed with the dressing. Great way to make broccoli!

Chocolate Zucchini Cake II

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
This was absolutely delicious. You could see the zucchini, but it didn't bother us. I didn't know what sour milk was, so in case someone else is wondering too, you just mix 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar with enough milk to make the 1/2 cup and let it sit for 5 min.

Potato and Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I agree, the potatoes were way too hard. Next time, I will boil them until pretty soft first. I loved the flavor and the combination though.

Turkey-Berry Stuffing Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I like the idea of this, but I didn't care for the cranberries. They were very tart and didn't blend well. Maybe if they were added to the turkey while it cooked? Also, the balls themselves seem a little dry. I will definitely try this again and tweak it a bit, but as is, they were just so so.

Sweet Potato Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
The flavor and texture was like a sweet potato casserole in pie form. Maybe that is what it is supposed to be, but I was expecting more of a firm pie, not so mushy. However it may have been all my fault. My husband said he wanted a smooth texture, so I pureed the potatoes. Also, I used 1/2c brown sugar and 1c white sugar. It overflowed, so I would definitely go with a deep dish pie.

Italian Wedding Cookies III

Perfect! I love these. I also used only 1/4t salt. I didn't try it with the full amount, but they were wonderful, melt in your mouth.

Sugarless Banana Walnut Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
I made this for my son's smash cake on his 1st birthday. I used blueberries instead of walnuts and it was really good. The recipe made a 9x5 loaf in addition to the small circle for him. It was a nice change to the traditional banana bread, but not really what I would consider a cake.

Basil Pesto Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
These were excellent. I tried a few without the tomato, since I ran out, and they were great as well. I tried slices around 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch thick and really like the thinner better. The bread was less hard and easier to eat, but the pesto oil soaked through a little. Still way yummy.

Tomato Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
This was absolutely delicious. I only gave it 4 stars because it was really kind of greasy, but the flavor was wonderful.

Quick and Almost-Professional Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
It was really runny, probably because I only had spreadable butter, so I ended up adding way more sugar than the recipe says. As a result it tasted too sugary. I added cocoa powder to cut the sweet and it made a nice chocolate icing. I saved some of the running icing and it made a nice drizzle. The flavor was really good, so I am sure real butter would have fixed everything.
