I'm a young, Stepford-Wife in training ;) Desserts! My Oma makes huge cookie-plates at Christmas for every member of the family. They're piled high with homemade sweets and gourmet chocolate from her most recent trip home to Germany. This is always my favorite thing about Christmas! I've since expanded my horizons beyond the cookie-baking world and tried my hand at salads and dinner dishes. I can even whip up a few breakfasts now. It's all quite impressive. One time baking cookies, I lit a dishtowel on fire and ran around frantically in a panic before finally shoving it in the water-filled sink. Another time in my first attempt to steam asparagus, I turned them all to mush :( but the boyfriend ate them anyway and pretended to like it. My worst is probably when I accidentally used baking soda instead of baking powder in cornbread. It was HORRIBLE! Oddly enough, a friend LOVED it and took the wreckage home and raved for weeks how great my cornbread is. He needs to try it when I make it right!!
