I made this last night. my first time making apple pie. perfect. my husband (who's mother and sisters are EXCELLENT cooks and bakers) does not like apple pie. he loved this. he gobbled up a large piece night and then came home for lunch and had a second piece! I did add a good teaspoon of cinnamon, a dash of vanilla and a dash of salt to the syrup. I poured the syrup over the apples before I covered the pie and did a piece of crust without the lattice (though it would have been so pretty). I was so touched by what the recipe author commented. so moving- thank you for sharing!! we used some green apples we found off a tree and they were very tart and worked very nicely!

EXCELLENT. This is a fantastic recipe. I baked at 325 and it is the best pound cake I've ever had. I accidentally didn't measure my butter correctly and put 1/3 of what is called for and it turned out great :). Just can't go wrong here. Oh, I did put a dash of salt and vanilla.

great taste! I made my own pitas and made more of the "marinade" and used that for my base. Stuffed with lettuce on top and a drizzle of ranch. Delicious!
