Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
Spiced Pumpkin Seeds - Very tasty. Keeper. Adjustments: Took the advice of others and quadrupled the seasonings with the exception of the Worcestershire sauce and substituted salt for seasoning salt. Cooked for an hour an 10 mins at 275 degrees for crunchiness

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2009
Excellent receipt. Loved by all. Will definitely make again. Receipt easy to follow, made a couple adjustments as follows: 1/4 cup of water, soaked the cut and peeled apples in lemon water. Also, I tossed the apples in the cinnamon and sugar mixture, and I added some 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg to that mixture.

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
Very Good Recipe and great teasting pie. I did take the advice of other reviewers and made the following changes. I use evaporated milk instead of regular milk. I add a 1/4 tsp of cloves and ginger and 2 tbsp of lemon juice. The lemon enhances the tast of the potatoes. I halve the white sugar and replace with brown sugar. Last, I also added a 1 tbsp flour to the mixture to thicken up a bit and I still found the mixture & Pie to be runny. I may need to cut down on the evaporated milk or add additonal flour.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2009
This is deffenitly a keeper. I did make a couple of changes, however. I baked for 35 minutes and warmed the sauce in a pot on the stove rather than pouring it over the chops. I also used cream of chicken rather than mushroom, since we're not mushroom fans and doubled the milk rather than using wine. You also have to be careful not to burn the chops while they are on the stove. Keep the heat low and be mindful not to burn them. It turned out fabulous.

Rib Eye Steaks with a Soy and Ginger Marinade

Terriffic! The steak turned out fantastic, but more importaintly then the steak, the Marinade is awesome. This marinade will replace my old favorite standby "Basnote" marinade.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Excellent. Easy to make and fun to eat. Possible additions in the future is to add cheese in with the milk and corn or carrots, parsnips to the mix for a fuller body soup. This is a keeper.

Kielbasa and Cabbage

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
Excellent. The added Kielbasa was a nice twist to an old favorite. In addition to the recipe ... I sauteed the onions and garlic in the bacon drippings, then added 4-5 microwaved cubed red potatoes, to par-cook for 3 minutes, before adding them to the cabbage. I also pan-fried the kielbasa separately to get it nice and browned, then added it for the final 10-15 minutes.

Restaurant-Style Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
Outstanding. This Zuppa Toscana is better then the Zuppa Toscana you get at the restaurant. The kids did not care for it all that much, but all the adults loved it. Definitely a keeper. No adjustments needed.

I enjoyed this meal. The kids not so much. I used Italian sausage, add 1/4 c of Herb Seasoned Stuffing, lots of green onion, red and green bell pepper. Next time I will use Maple Sugar flavor sausage and not us so much bell pepper.

Runzas (Bierocks)

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
The whole family enjoyed this recipe, but I made a few adjustments. I cut up a couple pieces of bacon and threw it in with the ground beef and cabbage. I also used some seasoning salt and half an onion and some garlic and worcestershire sauce. I used the cheese we had on hand (colby jack) and it turned out great. I used the crecsent rolls instead of bread mix, and it only took about 15 minutes in the oven at 350 degrees.(I also tried the garlic crescent rolls, but I found the filling flavor was drowned out by the garlic of the rolls.
