My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year my father makes meat pie which we have on Christmas Eve. It's the best ever! At Christmas my mother makes gumdrop cake, which is better (dense and almost dry?) and unlike any I've had elsewhere. My mother-in-law makes the best scotch cakes...
My cooking triumphs
Hmm...prime rib and ribs. I don't make "beefy" dishes a lot, but I've had success. I think I can thank my meat thermometer.

My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried my slow cooker I made a casserole. It was horrible.
For an event I made a lemon sour cream pie and just before serving I realized that I forgot to bake the crust before adding the custard! Fortunately, the custard came out easily, we baked the crust and put the filling back in. Despite my mistake, it was awesome!
