About this Cook
I come from a family of exquisite Hungarian Chefs - My Great Grandmother, Grandmother and Mother. The cooking gene was not passed on (I once screwed up making instant pudding). This is my attempt to eat well, cook well and give my mother something positive to say about my cooking.
My favorite things to cook
Italian, Mexican (salsa should be a food group) and anything hearty and homemade (what I grew up on). I'm also trying to expiriment with foodstuffs I didn't grow up with such as salmon.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The women in my family are fantastic cooks and I hope to one day live up to the family name. Food is an essential part of life and food is always fresh (never from a box or can or frozen), hearty and very european (goulash anyone?) I, on the other hand am an academic, paying for University and trying to maintain the food traditions while on a budget and time crunch.
My cooking triumphs
SURVING A YEAR ON MY OWN WITHOUT STARVING! And my mini blueberry chocolate chip cheesecakes.
My cooking tragedies
Instant pudding.

Ultimate Maple Snickerdoodles
These cookies were really good and super easy to make. I would add more maple syrup next time just to give them a bit more punch. I also used brown sugar/sugar/syrup to roll the cookies in. These cookies are best in small sizes...making large versions of these cookies would loose the effect. Overall great recipe and I can't wait to see if the guy I'm making for likes them!

Easy Guacamole
Excellent recipe! I modified this slightly for the ingredients I had on hand: i used two small avocados, 1/4 red onion, 3tbsps or so of salsa, a splash of lemon juice, a small clove of garlic and a few twists of ground sea salt. Delicious and Quick!

California Grilled Veggie Sandwich
This recipe was delicious! I completely cheated and didn't follow the recipe to a T. My version used a very nice slightly crusty bread, cheddar cheese, green, yellow and red peppers, zucchini and red onion. For the mayo I didn't have time to chop real garlic so I just used garlic powder. Also I put all the ingredients on the sandwich, open face, then I grilled them in my toaster oven. So I cheated but the results were absolutely delicious!
