About this Cook
I love to cook when I have time, and if I have time I like to experiment in the kitchen with ideas that I have thought out in advance. Baking and candy is a favorite, as are casseroles and new techniques.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook cheesecake, soups, and meal plan.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking in ironware. Going camping and berry picking and canning/freezing.
My cooking triumphs
Winning ribbons at the fair!
My cooking tragedies
When I was teaching myself how to bake bread with high protein wheat flour and old yeast. I think I made dog biscuits!

Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread
For all the reviews, I thought this would be ambrosia, but only 1 out of 4 thought it was good and that was the "carb kid." The rest of us thought it was a strange mix of flavors, not quite melding: a bit "sour," sweet and bland. It was easy to make and I followed the recipe to the tee. I don't even think it would have been improved with dried fruit.

Torsk
This was OK. The kids ate it, but for the amount of sugar it would be better for you and better tasting to use Mrs. Dash....

Texas Lizzies
This was disgusting. A waste of expensive ingredients. I followed it to a tee and really wanted it to work because it sounded good and I actually like these flavors. But they were akward and seemed to need more of a foundation for all the "heavy" ingredients.
