About this Cook
I am the mother of 3 energetic boys and a super-precious (and spoiled) daughter who keep me hopping and after almost 10 years of teaching high school history, I am staying home with them full time. I love to cook and am blessed to have a husband that enjoys my adventurous cooking spirit!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake and so I am always on the lookout for new desserts. Our church, my sons' school, and friends and family are often my guniea pigs. I also took a cooking class on risotto recently, so I am enjoying the various ways to make that.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love making all the cookies at Christmas time and having our house smell so wonderful for a month's worth of baking.
My cooking triumphs
I love to make soup and so that's a big part of our menu in the fall, winter, and spring. I love it when I make a recipe and everyone raves about it, but complains they can't make it like mine... :)
My cooking tragedies
A lot of the things I used to struggle with, I have learned to make pretty well (quiche, homemade bread), but I still have a bomb once in a while!

Black-Eyed Pea Gumbo
This was okay. My husband liked it and since it makes so much, he took it to work and shared it with co-workers, who also thought it was good. I personally found it bland, even though I added some hot sauce and cayenne to the recipe. I don't think I will use this particular gumbo recipe again.

Cheesy Ranch Potato Bake
I like cheesy potatoes and was looking forward to giving it a different flavor with the ranch dressing... unfortunately, we didn't like this at all. I used a good ranch dressing and followed the recipe exactly, but the flavor was off. Not our cup of tea.
