I am married and retired July 1,2006. I have two boys and 3 grandchildren as well as 3 stepchildren and 5 stepgrandcildren who are just wonderful. I have always liked to cook but while I was working my husband took that job over, so I kind of got out of the swing of it-and I am not doing that much as some health problems keep me from really getting into it. But I love it when I can do it. One of my very favorite things to do is flower arranging and decorating which I do a lot of at my church and my home at Christmas.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook is baked steak and gravy, specialty is desserts which I do not need so much of, I also enjoy making "out of the ordinary" dishes for our church dinners and family/social gatherings.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking cakes, I never learned to make good pie crusts, fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy. My Mom's cranberry salad at Christmas. Homemade dressing.
My cooking triumphs
Probably taking one cake recipe and finding a way to change it a couple of different ways. My biggest one was last year, I had never made a fruit cake and I concocted my own version of Raspberry/Chocolate Fruit cake that every one was crazy about. One person told me it was more of a delicacy than just a fruit cake. Sure made me proud!
My cooking tragedies
I have had so many cooking tragedies that I don't care to mention, however, I don't give up-I may just avoid that particular recipe in the future, especially if my husband does not care about it, and he is not one bit shy to share his feelings about them!
