I am not a professional chef, but I have been cooking for years. I have recently tried to incorporate more vegetarian meals into our diet and am trying to make versions of all my favorite recipes that are meat free. So far, so good! My husband and I love to experiment in the kitchen by starting with a base recipe and just taking it from there. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but either way, we have a blast! We also like to find healthy ways to improve our favorite dishes as well as find shortcuts that don't sacrifice the taste or nutrition.
My favorite things to cook
Homemade pizza, anything Italian, Mexican, Asian. I just like to try new stuff all the time!
My most requested dish is my twist on alfredo and my lasagna. My new most requested dish is my version of the Whole Wheat pizza on this site!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom having a huge pot of sauce simmering all day while she was cooking lasagna.
My cooking triumphs
My husband and I have really discovered a lot of new flavors since we decided not to eat meat for a month. We've discovered great ways to have meaty dishes without the meat! This has actually been a fun and flavorful experience!
My cooking tragedies
I went all farm-lady a few years ago and canned pickles and tomatoes. It took two days, I burned myself, and the tomatoes were runny and the family was tired of pickles after two jars. I gave away a ton and STILL ended up with a pantry full of pickles! I decided just to buy them from now on. Much easier!
