About this Cook
I have lived in Pittsburgh, Miami, Buffalo, Montour Falls, Morgantown, New York City and Champaign-Urbana!!! When I moved back to my farm in Champaign, I get to cook again all the time!
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook include all meats, poultry and seafood...love proteins!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother was the worst cook ever, so it is a wonder that I like to cook at all. I did not know vegetables did not come out of a can for quite some time. I remember when I was in college and everyone could not wait to go home to Mom's cooking...I would dread going home knowing that I would be eating grey colored beef and pink chicken. And fish...forget it, Mrs. Pauls fish sticks were the closest I ever came! And baking!?
My cooking triumphs
Best dish = Chicken Cacciatore, Baby Calves Liver and Onions, Cedar Planked Salmon, Herb Roasted Prime Rib, Sausage Gravy and Biscuits, Cuban Flan
My cooking tragedies
Worst dish = Jamaician Me Crazy Chili (reviewed here), baking pastries (remember: Mom did not know how to cook or bake...only Pilsbury cookie dough rolls).

Jamaican Me Crazy Chili
I followed this recipe to the letter, and it was without question the worst tasting chili ever. The clove was overpowering and there was no heat to the dish. There is nothing you could do different to make this chili taste better and it certainly does not make a person think of Jamaica. Big yuk.

Thyme-Rubbed Steaks with Sauteed Mushrooms
This recipe was just OK. I liked adding the vegetable oil to the mushrooms. I will not go out of my way to make again.

Kitty Litter Cake
This is the funniest cake ever! Easy to make and the kids love to pretend they are eating a piece of poo. I throw in a few miniature Baby Ruth's also. Halloween is on Tuesday and I already have multiple requests to bring this special treat. A big winner!!!
