About this Cook
I am a new mother and wife. My husband is vietnamese and he really enjoys eating asian food. Unfourtunatly for him I had never cooked asian food. The closest thing I had cooked to asian was opening a can of chow mein and heating it up, lol. Well in the year that we have been married I have been learning to cook asian type of dishes which I am getting better at it but still have a long way to go. However my husband has a major sweet tooth and lucky for him I enjoy baking desserts. So it balances out.
My favorite things to cook
Well as I mentioned before I really enjoy baking desserts with one exception I can't bake pies because I never learned. So that is one thing on my list to learn to make. I like to cook with chicken because there is so much you can do with it. Generally I enjoy baking, the oven is my friend. I also enjoy grilling because it tastes so good.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't really have any cooking traditions but my family when I was young would always hang out in the kitchen. We really enjoyed standing around or helping with the preperations for dinner and talking. I have fond memories of just being in the kitchen talking with my mother or other family members.
My cooking triumphs
I don't think I really have any cooking triumphs. I am just happy when I can make something that me and my husband both enjoy, lol.
My cooking tragedies
Pork chops, I can't get them to come out moist and juicy. They are always dry and tough. Also pies don't know how to make them but am learning.

Mom's Zucchini Bread
Very yummy! I made a couple changes. I put in 1 cup brown sugar and 1 1/4 cups white sugar( thus equaling the 2 1/4 cups of white sugar the recipe called for). Also i sprinkled in the bottom of the bread pan cinnamon and sugar (after I had sprayed the bottom). It added such wonderful flavor and depth to the recipe. Also if you add in the brown sugar your bread will come out looking darker then you will see in the pictures. But it tastes so much better then just using only white sugar, it adds more depth and flavor. I will definitly be making this again.

Taco Bake
I love this recipe. Its a great way to use leftover taco meat. The only thing I changed was to take out the green chiles (I don't like them) and I used spiral shaped noodles instead of shell shaped (the suace sticks nicely to a spiral shaped noodle). I really like the fact that it doesn't taste too tacoish but you can make it more taco like by leaving in the green chiles and adding other taco stuff like sour cream. Its just very versitle. Also it freezes well so if you wont to make some freezer meals this works out great for that too. I will most definitly be making this again.

Nacho Cheese Sauce
I really like this cheese sauce but it does need some heat to be added to it for it to be a nacho cheese, I'm gonna play around with it to find the right heat.
