Me!!
About this Cook
I am 30 years old, and have been with my wonderful husband for 11 years. We have 4 happy sons who keep us on our toes at all times! I have been home-schooling our boys for the past year and a half, and it is the BEST, most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life. Of course, it can get stressfull, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy coming up with dishes that are my own "creation", but since finding this site, I am addicted to trying the other member's wonderful recipes. Since I am often busy with my boys, I do tend to cook a lot of meals that are quick and easy. Thankfully, my kids aren't all that picky, so I do try to incorporate a lot of fresh vegetables in my cooking. I absolutely LOVE my crockpot. I use it at least 3 times a week. I love hearty, stick-to-the-ribs comfort food the most.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother actually is a wonderful cook, but we don't have any "cooking traditions". I guess the closest thing to that would be just the fact that my mom and I enjoy trading recipes, and occasionally we get together and prepare large meals for our entire family.
My cooking triumphs
At Thanksgiving, we always have a large gathering of family (like most people do). A few Thanksgivings ago,I hosted it at my house for the first time. I prepared a HUGE meal that everyone enjoyed. It was a big undertaking for me, and everything was absolutely perfect. Since then, my mom, sister, and I share the holiday cooking.
My cooking tragedies
I haven't actually made anything that we couldn't eat, but there have been a few times where I went a little heavy on the salt! My husband never lets me forget it. He enjoys making fun of me when I bring home salt from the grocery store, saying something like "Oh, we were out of salt already?". I tend to give my husband a lot of dirty looks :)

Steak Sauce
This steak sauce came together in a flash, and was DELICIOUS to boot. I'm a huge fan of A1, but it just cannot beat this homemade sauce, even though it's made with simple ingredients. My kids and I couldn't get enough of it! My husband liked it too ...:) Thanks for this amazingly amazing recipe!

Spiced Butternut Squash Muffins
These were great! I had some butternut squash leftover from Thanksgiving, so I decided to try this recipe, and I'm so glad I did! I followed the directions exactly, but I did drizzle a very easy icing over the tops once they were cool (1 cup of confectioners sugar mixed with 2 tablespoons of milk and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla). The icing was perfect with them, since the muffins aren't overly sweet. My whole family really enjoyed them! Thanks for a great recipe!

Slow Cooker Stuffing
This stuffing came out awesome! I made it even easier to prepare doing the following: I used 2 16 oz. boxes of Bell's original stuffing mix, and I omitted the dry spices/seasonings (they were already in the stuffing mix). I also sauteed my veggies in the butter the night before, and tossed them together with the stuffing mix in a large bowl. I refrigerated that overnight. Thanksgiving morning, I mixed in the eggs and about 4 cups of chicken broth, put everything in the crock pot, and cooked it on low for about 5 hours. It was perfect, and everyone loved it! Thanks for a great recipe!
