I used to have a little herb shop and mixed my own potpourris, teas and culinary blends. Everyone still asks me for herb advice.
My favorite things to cook
I like making bread and cookies. I love my bread machine but only use it to mix and knead, taking it out for the final rising and baking it in the oven. It seems to me that the bread is coarser when it cooks in the machine.
Soups and Stews are a favorite at our house in the winter with some nice homemade bread.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother always made a pot roast for Sunday dinner. I like to think I do her one better with a little herb bag of basil, bay and rosemary.
My dad's Christmas peanut brittle - secret recipe passed down to me!
My cooking triumphs
I shine on Thanksgiving and Christmas! Not only do I cook big feasts but I make and bake a lot of sweet gifts.
My cooking tragedies
Short attention span for anything too complicated - I have been known to burn a thing or two because I was doing something else while cooking - usually painting since my studio is right next to the kitchen and I wander in there and pick up a brush and forget everything else.
