German Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
This was delicious! I am not a fan of regular potato salad so this was perfect for me. I doubled the bacon though...a must. I also substituted the white wine vinegar for just regular white vinegar...came out awesome. Delicious the next day. YUM!

Crispy Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
This chicken was delicious and exactly like my grandmother used to make. I've never made fried chicken before and this recipe kicked some major a$$. My husband said it is just like fried chicken is supposed to taste. I didn't have a cast iron skillet, so I used a Le Crueset dutch oven and filled it almost halfway up with oil. I dipped the handle of a wooden spoon in to see if the oil was hot enough (if bubbles crawl up the handle..it's ready). After the chicken starts to brown I covered, set it on low heat and cooked for 20 minutes instead of 30. PERFECT! CRISPY!!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
This icing is the best! I used milk instead of corn syrup to thin it out. Dried hard, shiny and sweet. Loved it! Our Halloween cookies look so pretty!! I made two batches for about 60 cookies.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2010
Let me be clear. I cook. I do not bake. Ever. I'm 39 years old. While I cook like a bat out of hell I skip cookies, cakes and the like. But I got the urge to bake Halloween cookies with my six year old son and the result was easy to work with dough that tasted delicious and just the right amount of sweet. I iced them with the allrecipes.com recipe "Sugar Cookie Icing" which went with these perfectly!!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
I made this for a recent camping trip and changed the recipe to 12 servings. I used six boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Seasoned them with garlic powder, paprika, and some cumin. Used two cans of cream of chicken. I only used two cans of biscuit dough even though the revised recipe called for three. It was perfect for a chilly fall evening! We crushed tortilla chips to sprinkle over the top since someone forgot to bring rice. Yum! Thanks...

Kielbasa with Peppers and Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
This is so good and so easy! My six year old devours it. Someone else recommended giving the pot a shake every few minutes to keep the potatoes from burning/sticking to the bottom of the pan..I highly recommend this. You definitely don't want to stir it while it's cooking. Just keep on shakin'...thank you, easy and delicious.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
Awesome...just like we had in Maui. I used Pork Shoulder steaks per my Hawaiian friend. Also used Sea Salt...still delicious. I cooked for about 18 hours, you could do it less time w/ the steaks, but either way...not overdone at all and tasted perfectly. You may want to use a touch more Liquid Smoke than this recipe calls for. YUM! Thank you and MAHALO!!

Grilled Lemon Herb Pork Chops

I only had time to marinate these for an hour...I definitely recommend marinating for MUCH longer...they were good though, really moist...I added honey and a little soy...

Moroccan Chicken and Whole Grain Couscous

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2010
I didn't use the entire 45 oz of chicken broth. This is like a spicy chicken soup on the first night and a stew the next night. I used rice and it soaks up all extra liquid just fine. You could easily double the spices in this recipe. I added some diced potato and you could put celery in as well. Definitely more delicious the next day.

Fantastic! Wouldn't change a thing. I grilled five minutes per side, I think 8 would be too long. Better to be underdone than overdone. Thank you!! Delicious!!

Korean Bean Curd (Miso) Soup

Reviewed: May 10, 2010
I gave 4 stars only because I've never had Miso before. This was delicious, and my Korean friend says it is very authentic! Since this is supposed to be a gluten-free recipe I substituted the dashi granules with boxed seafood stock...the dashi contains whey. Delicious!

Killer Artichokes

Reviewed: May 2, 2010
These were fantastic, I am so glad I made them. I boiled them for about 20 mins, I think 30 would make them fall apart easily on the grill. Like other reviewers I made much more of the basting sauce by using a few more shallots, a few more garlic cloves and olive oil and butter. I also put in some lemon juice and a few drops of Red Hot. Foil on the grill is a must! Thank you, the grilled flavor is amazing!

Homefried Potatoes with Garlic and Bacon

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
These are delicious! I drained off a good amount of the bacon grease as well - there was a lot in the pan after frying the bacon. Someone topped it with sour cream?? That I will have to try - yum! I sliced my potatoes medium-thin and they were done in 20 mins along w/ the onions and fresh garlic I put in. Loved this!

Marie's Chicken Bake

This was really good - I used Shake and Bake Extra Crispy instead of bread crumbs. Yes dipping these babies in butter does create grease but man oh MAN is this yummy - the chicken is perfect inside.

Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2009
Excellent, excellent. I stole someone's idea and used butter instead of the shortening. I also took someone else's advice and cut the recipe in half, as well as added the sugar to the butter in 1/2 cup increments. I only made 30 sugar cookies, and I still had a good 1/2 cup of frosting left over. YUM! It does dry fairly quickly, so if you are putting on sprinkles, etc. it's great to have a kid around who is willing to sprinkle right after you frost. Thanks!
