I was born in Boston, MA and my parents were both from Nova Scotia, Canada. I've lived many places (Victoria, BC, Winnipeg, MB, Antigonish, NS, Boston, MA, Atlanta, GA) and I now reside in Clearwater, FL. I've also traveled quite a bit. Spain, Italy, Ireland, Costa Rica, Mexico, Jamaica, Grand Cayman Island and more.
If there is one thing I've loved about my many different adventures, it was the food. :)
My favorite things to cook
(This ones for you dad.)
Boiled dinner with cured pork ribblets. God, I wish I could find them in Florida.
My cooking triumphs
I recently lost my father and his words remain very dear to me. My sister and I went back to Canada to be with him the last couple of months of his life. I did all the cooking for the family. One evening, my father said to me, "I can't get over what a beautiful cook you have become. You cook from your heart and it really shows."
My cooking tragedies
When I was in my mid 20's, my fiance caught a big cod fish. It was the same day that our both parents were going to meet for the first time at our new condo. I was making dinner for everyone. What could be better than FRESH fish chowder from his catch of the day?!!
How I missed it, I'll never know but it wasn't until both sets of parents were seated and served their chowder, that I notice the bowls were FULL of worms.
Horror all around. haha
