About this Cook
I took pleasure on cooking a few years back, when I moved to the US and was living on my own. I started cooking simple things and not long after I was buying all kinds of gourmet cooking books and spending the whole weekend in the kitchen cooking all sorts of dishes. I even though about doing the Culinary Academy, but I didn't think I'd have the discipline (or the money!) to go through. Haven't had the chance to use many of the recipes from the website yet, but it seems like there is a lot of good recipes from very talented ppl.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking whatever I find complex to get done...it's like it has to be challenge for me to overcome. I also like baking cakes and cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family is from all over the place, Spain, Italy, Armenia and I grew up eating those different cuisines. I must admit my favorite is Mediterranean and Italian. My grandma from dad's side used to gather the family for lunch on the weekends and we would have all sorts of Armenian/Greek dishes. My fave was the dolmas. From mom's side, it was all about Italian food, specially pasta.
My cooking triumphs
Don't think I have any....yet!
My cooking tragedies
As ridiculous as it may sound, I just can't bake brownies...not even the ones from mix...

German Chocolate Cake III
It was an okay cake...I'm sure it would have turned out great had I used a better quality chocolate (here I can't find German chocolate), so I used semi-sweet chocolate. I also agree with the other reviewers that the filling was very liquidy. I chose not to add cornstarch, so, I used a strainer to take some of the liquid out and it was fine. Actually, everyone LOVED the filling more than the actual cake (again, prob. because the chocolate used wasn't the best).

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV
I followed the recipe to the T and got a total of 50 cookies...they were gone in 25 mins and EVERYONE wanted to recipe. I took them out of the oven 2 minutes earlier and they were really chewy, even after cooling down...DELICIOUS! Thank you for the recipe!
