Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
I think these are fabulous! I am new to the whole bread making thing and I love it. I love the fact these bagels are dense and chewy. I didn't put seeds or anntthing but egwhites on them before I baked them and both me and my husband thought the were great! I need a little work to make mine "pretty" but with a little practice they'll be even better than the ones at the store...and A LOT cheaper too!

Beer Batter

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2007
I didn't have and of the technical problems some other seemed to have. The batter was a very good consistancy and stuck to the fish just fine, but it just didn't taste like enough for me. I even added extra pepper and it was still very bland. I won't be using this recipe again.

Hudson's Baked Tilapia with Dill Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
I love the dill sauce. To be honest we don't use the fish recipe, not because it's not good, but we prepare our fish differently, but we ALWAYS have the dill sauce whenever we have fish these days.

Portobello Mushroom Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
This has become a staple in our house. I do, however cut the amount of sour cream in half and replace it with cream of mushroom soup. My 2 year old daughter likes it too.

French Onion Soup V

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2007
This was REALLY good soup. I made a few changes to the recipe though. We used organic chicken broth instead of beef broth. It made it a little lighter. We used swiss cheese instead too. With the bread, I grilled it in olive oil and thyme before I put it in the soup. I will definatly make this again, though I will probably cut the amount of pepper in half and add some additional spices.

Cracked Sugar Cookies I

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2007
These were delicoius cookies, however the dough was not easy to work with. For whatever reason the dough was crumbly, but if I pinched it and mushed it together they made perfectly acceptable balls. They cooked up beautifully and were really tasty. My husband really liked them. For one batch I rolled the balls in cinnamon and sugar before baking...voila: snicker-doodles! I'll make the recipe again but take one of the reviewers advice and add 2 Tbsp of applesauce.

Butter Bean Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2007
I thought this was a fantastic recipe. I also love the fact that these are noth "trying" to be meat. The flavor is fabulous. I made this recipe exactly to the recipe and it was pretty good. However, now I add 1 tsp of fresh thyme, 1 tsp of fresh rosemary. Sometimes I use bread crumbs vs. the saltines, and I don't notice a dramatic difference. I ALWAYS use 2 eggs though. That fixes any issue of them falling apart or being mushy. There is also no need to use 1/4 cup oil. I only use a few tbsp.

Lentils and Rice with Fried Onions (Mujadarrah)

Reviewed: May 29, 2007
It was pretty good. I used many of the suggestions on the other reviews. I used more onions and sour cream. I also added additional spices. My lentils were a little underdone, next time I'll cook them longer.

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

YAY!! I've never made pie before. (My father works for a bakery so homemade pies were blasphemous) but I made a pumpkin pie with this crust and it was very good. My husband thought the curst was the best part.

Baking Powder Biscuits I

Reviewed: May 10, 2007
We call these "pay day" biscuits at our house because as it gets closer to pay day (read: grocery shopping) we run out of other breads, but we alwayd have these ingredients on hand. I add grated cheddar cheese to min before adding the milk for a little more flavor.

We make this recipe all the time and I love it. We add a lot of additional spices, but we're big on spices in our family. My husband adds a scoop of hot salsa to his for a kick. I love that it maikes a lot and we have leftovers ofr quick lunches.

Coconut Tofu Keema

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2007
This is a fnatastic recipe!! My family loves it, and my husband really enjoys cooking it. We stick to the recipe, then let it simmer for about 30 minutes, then add more spices to taste. (Always more curry) It makes a lot but saves and reheats really well! It has become a staple in our house.

Tabbouleh I

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2006
I thought this was a good recipe. My husband is always looking for "better" salad, as in more flavor. We eat bulgar often so this salad had lots of welcoming flavors to us. It had very strong flavors so I am still unsure as to what to serve it with but I now use the lemon and oil dressing on romain salads too. The texture is the only thing that gets some getting used to. The parsley is very different but good.

Chicken Milano

My family thought this recipe was fantastic! I needed more sauce so I added some more cream and then the sauce was a little thin for me but I just added a little flour while it was in the saucepan, and it thickened right up. I made it a week ago and have recomended it to 2 other people!!

Moroccan Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2006
I loved this recipe. It was flavorful and fun to make, but I really enjot cooking. I can see how this would not be a working persons favorite dish to make. It requires a lot of chopping and prep, but I thought it was well worth it. It took about 20 additional minutes for the potatoes to get tender and I only used 1/8 tsp of cayenne pepper and it was PLEANTY spicy.

Vegetable Pasta Casserole

This was a good recipe. My husband and I often eat meatless meals and this one was well liked by both of us. I am going to make it again in the future but I will be adding more and different spices. I think it has a lot of potential, but it needs some minor adjustments.
