Cake Doughnuts

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2011
These are good! They are just like I like them: crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I made holes without refrigerating the dough first becuase I was in a hurry. The dough was tacky but I was able to scoop out about a tablespoon and roll it in my hands to make a ball. I dropped it in the oil and fried for about 2-4 minutes. I didn't have vanilla extract or nutmed and they were still flavorful. I can't wair to try it with those ingredients!

No-Fuss Chicken

Reviewed: May 24, 2011
This was very good. I had to change a little becuase I needed it to cook for more than 2 1/2 hours. I turned it down to low and cooked it for about 5 hours. The white meat was REALLY dry, but that was my fault, I cooked it twice as long as the recipe called for. I also added 1 tsp garlic powder to the sauce, used regular salt becuase I didn't have season salt and added a little pepper. I added a cut up oinion to the pot too. I will make this again and I will reduce the butter a little because it was a little greasy, and I will use chicken thigh and leg quarters instead of a whole cut up chicken.

Mexican Rice II

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
Good recipe. Easy, and I like easy in a pinch. However I get far more chicken flavor than Mexican flavors. I had to spice mine up with more cumin and some chili powder. I'll probably use this as a base and experiment more with spices.

Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breast

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
We enjoy this recipe and the flavors are good, but the bacon is soggy. Even under the broiler it does not crisp up and if it does the chicken becomes dry. To remedy this, I wrap the bacon around the chicken and sear it in a hot pan. Then put it in the pan for baking.

Broccoli, Rice, Cheese, and Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
This was good and easy. I picked it becuase I was easy. I made my 4 year old make it (with major superviosion of course) becuase she has been throwing food at dinner. It helped her realize food does not magically appear ont he table. I added some pepper hack for a bit more flavor though.

Meaty Mexican Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2010
I thought this was a really good recipe, though I agree with the previous reviewer that it doesn;t really seem Mexican. I made a double batch, but kept the ketsup the same, but dices a tomato and added it. The spice misture was fantastic, though I will be leaving out the raisins next time. They added an odd texture to it. To me it seemed like a sloppy joe. Ours were not dry at all. I will be keeping this and never buying manwich again! Thanks for the great recipe!

Sicilian Pineapple Pork Roast

Fantastic! I had to make a few minor changes. I didn;t have any sage so I left it out. I also used a 2 lb bonless loin and cut the cooking time in half. It was SO juicy and flavorful! I will be keeping this recipe for sure!

Jeannie's Famous Potato Hamburger Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2010
I actually had seconds of this recipe and my kids liked it but I will not be making it again. I made these changes: I sauted the meat first (with garlic, thyme, basil, and oregano) then I drained the excess fat and rederved it and sauted the onions in the same pan without wiping it and I did not add the oil. I then used the drippings from the beef in place of the butter. I also omitted the cream and used 1/2 cup sour cream, though I don't think it was needed. I cut the cheese down to 3 cups. Even with all these lower fat substitutions, it was still swimming in grease. Also it was a little bland. I know had my hubby been home to eat it he would have added hot sauce or something. So overall, kind of bland and greasy. It served it's function for tonight, but I will not be making it again.

This was fabulous. I have made it with leftover chicken and leftover turkey. They were both delicious and I got quite a few compliments. This will become a staple at our house.

This was pretty good. It was a little dry, but I might have over cooked it. It definatly needed nuts though. The spice was very good.

Moist Turkey Burgers

This was a good recipe. The flavor was good as was the recommended cooking time. I did however not saute the onions before hand and per the other reviewers suggestions, I used 1/2 the amount of bread crumbs. I will be using this recipe again.

Chicken Divan

Reviewed: May 15, 2009
This wasn;t good at all. My husband thought it was ok. I was only able to eat it with saltines crumbled on it, my husband put italian crutonson his. I don't know HOW people thought it was too runny, mine was almost like paste. It tasted like I was eating condensed chicken soup out of the can. To be fair, I've never eaten chicken dian before, maybe it's just not for us.

This was very good, but taking the other reviewers advice I cut the broth by half. I will be making this again, but I will be doubling the spices. It was a little balnd for our tastes.

Hearty Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
I'm not a giant tuna fan, but my husnabd is and he loved this. I did use the lemon pepper tuna in the pouch and that adds a lot of flavor. I make it with this all the time now. I think it would be lacking flavor if I used regular tuna.

Baked Chicken and Zucchini

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
This is a really good recipe but I have to agree with the other reviewers that it works a lot better if you just put everything into the pan raw. I don't brown the chicken or saute the veggies. Some times I ad some bell pepper for additional flavor, but it is very god as written.

Lemon Blueberry Bread

It was good. I didn't drizzle the glaze over the entire loaf, I just did it on the individual slices and I thought it added a delicious lemony kick. Moist and very east to make. I did have to cook mine for 1 hour 20 minutes though.

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2008
This was absolutly fantastic. I only needed to cook 4 chicken breasts so I had a lot of sauce left over. We served it over the chicken and poured it over the rice too. We served it with sauteed asparagus. My husband actually said "I can't get enough of the sauce." And with 4 chicken breasts it only took 20 minutes to cook!

Chocolate Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2008
I have never had such good chocolate cake. It was moist and rich and WONDERFUL!! I didn't have and cocoa powder, so I used unsweetened chocolate and reduced the butter to 1 1/4 cups. 1 square is equal to 3 Tbsp powder + 1 Tbsp butter. Per the review that suggested reducing the temp, I lowered the temp to 300, but it took 1 hour 40 minutes to cook. I will be following the recipe cooking instructions for next time.
