I'm a 25 year old mother of three and have been married for 6 1/2 years to an ex-soldier.I have a son 5 1/2, daughter 2 1/2, and baby girl 7 months. I was thrown into cooking at an earlier age than most because my mother was gone a lot and my brother and I took it upon ourselves to make dinner for our dad and little sister when mom was gone.I got married at 18 and then had my first child at 19 so I had a family of my own to cook for a lot younger than most as well.I love the try new ingredients and generally love cooking.
My favorite things to cook
I am a baker I think at heart.Sweets are my thing.I have been told that my caramels are "the bomb".I make pies the most I think because everyone loves pie and they just come out so beautiful. You can almost make anything into a pie.
My cooking triumphs
My most recent and greatest cooking triumph is making my sisters wedding cake.Three tiered heart shaped cake with flowers and vines.Top tier was chocolate, middle vanilla, and bottom was chocolate with cheesecake flavored buttercream frosting. It came out so beautiful and delicious. It took a lot of practice cakes but the amount of people that commented on the final cake was well worth the effort.
My cooking tragedies
When I was about 15 I made some sugar cookies.I don't know what I forgot to put in or what but after they cooled they were as hard as stone. No one could even take a bite. One of the cookies I had cut out with the gingerbread man cookie cutter. After they turned hard there was nothing else to do with them so I drew the cookie hair and clothes and a face.I think my mom still has it on a shelf somewhere.
