I have been married to a man 8 years this September who I met over 14 years ago in high school. We have two beautiful children that we adopted and we love them SO MUCH! We love the Lord and we are so blessed with family and friendships centered around our faith in Jesus.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake and make desserts.
But I also love to try out new recipes all the time. I LOVE Italian food the most. And I want to find a baked ziti recipe somewhat like Pastini Pastaria has - it's incredible. So someday I hope to figure that out! (:
My favorite family cooking traditions
On Christmas morning I make bacon and eggs, and fresh squeezed orange juice, and we give the kids satsumas in their stockings. But the best part is I make my Grammy's upside down biscuits. They aren't anything amazing, but they take me back to childhood every single time I sink my mouth into their warm cinnamon sugarery buttery flavor, and they remind me of my grammy's life every time (:
My cooking triumphs
My chocolate chip cookie recipe. I prefer to keep it a secret because someday I want to open a bakery and have it be one of the featured items. But, my dad had me work on perfecting a recipe when I was in high school, so about once a week, I'd make him cookies, and he would review it for me, and give me his opinion - like, "too crunchy" or "not enough chocolate" (which in my personal opinion in cookies, you can never have enough chocolate chips) and finally, one day, I got it just right (:
And I've never heard anyone ever complain about them either (:
My cooking tragedies
1 month into marriage, I had my family over to our new apartment for dinner. I did the classic baking soda mistake in biscuits (instead of baking powder). Everyone was taking little nibbles and being very gracious about them. Then I tasted one, and exclaimed, "These are disgusting! I can't believe you guys are eating them!" With relief they put aside their biscuits and we all had a good laugh.
