About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love making breads and desserts that people in my family don't usually make, such as recipes from different countries. I also like making things that most people just buy in the store instead of making from scratch, such as pickles, jams, and hummus. Any time I find myself really liking a store-bought food or something from a restaurant, I always have to look up everything about the food, like the culture it's from and how one would make it at home. My family loves that I do this too, because I like to test my creations on them, and they really appreciate it. Hee.
My cooking tragedies
I can never make rolled out and cut biscuits. No matter how hard I try, they always come out flat and dense. At first I thought it was because the baking soda and powder my parents had was years after the expiration date, but then I tried again with new stuff, and they were only marginally better. I also have trouble with muffins. They never really come out very fluffy, but I have gotten better at it.

Honey Of An Oatmeal Bread
This was a wonderful bread. I used apple sauce instead of oil, and I split the flour between bread flour and white whole wheat flour. I also added a couple teaspoons of gluten, and had a bit of a free hand with the honey. This was a very good, soft bread with a nice crust.

Oatmeal and Applesauce Pancakes
These were really good. Everyone loved them. I did add about a 1/2 cup extra oatmeal and extra baking soda and powder. I also used whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose. I let the batter sit in the fridge for about half an hour and then thinned out the batter with a bit more milk, but it was still thick. This only about 9 pancakes, but they were so filling that you only need to eat two.

Condensed Milk Chocolate Frosting
This frosting was very good! It tasted like fudge brownies. I used cocoa powder instead of the chocolate, and it turned out great. I used the conversions on the cocoa box. This turned out very thick, so I did have to add the water. Thank you for the recipe!
