About this Cook
I have been a registered nurse for 23 years. I retired a couple of years ago. Although I've been cooking for over 20 years, I've only recently begun to have the time to enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. I still value quick, easy, and convenient recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Anything in the crockpot.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother was a business woman, so she only had one hour to cook and serve lunch. She could turn out some scrumptious food in a very short time! To me, cooking is too much like work if it takes lots of preparation time.
My cooking triumphs
I don't have "triumphs" in cooking. I just cook food and am happy if it tastes good and is nutritious.
My cooking tragedies
Burning the rolls AND the roast the first time I met my daughter's new boyfriend, now her husband. I knew he was a good guy, though, when he uttered the phrase, "I actually like rolls with black on the bottom..."

Grandma's Ham Casserole
This was a little too rich and creamy for my taste. I know that sounds odd for someone not to like rich and creamy, but I wanted something lighter.

End of the Line Ham Casserole
A little rich and bland for my taste. If I make it again, I will try to spice it up more.

Cheesy Onion Quick Bread
This bread was very good. The texture was a bit cake-like, but to my mind that just made it more interesting. The poppy seeds were a wonderful touch. I used bacon grease instead of olive oil to saute the onions and used a bit more cheese than called for. My husband and I both loved it.
