Marshmallow Delights

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
These were good but not what I expected. They definitely remind me of a cinnamon roll vs. tasting like marshmallow. My 5 yr old made these with me and had fun. Problem~ all of them oozed out and a couple seemed like they were sealed properly but actually exploded.

Dad's Steak Rub

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
My hubby loved this steak (my young kids said it was "spicy"). I didn't have real maple syrup so I did use the 'fake' kind with a little added honey and cooked it on a grill pan. It came out delicious. My hubby said it was the best steak I've cooked! Thanks!!

Spinach and Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2009
Really tasty with the following modifications: used 2 large cloves garlic, less pasta, sun-dried toms in oil vs dry, and chicken stock (from bouillon). This was very flavorful and light.

Unbelievably Awesome Barbeque Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
This was TERRIFIC! I had a baked chicken breast left over and just tossed it with BBQ sauce. I used a little extra BBQ sauce than it called for when I mixed it with marinara sauce b/c we like it stronger but REALLY great!!!!!

Ham and Cheese Bowties

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2009
I gave it 5 stars b/c my hubby said it was the BEST mac and cheese he's ever had! I followed the recipe except I added one extra garlic glove, used dijon mustard, and topped it with buttered panko crumbs mixed w/ garlic powder and parsley. Crunchy on the top and cheesy underneath!! yummy!

This was the perfect standard egg salad. Just like my mom used to make!

Cheesecake Cookie Cups

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
I love cheesecake...these just didn't do it for me. The choc. chip cookie on the bottom seemed to overpower the subtle flavor of these cheesecakes. I think maybe the gingersnaps on the bottom might be better. They ARE h/e quick and easy.

Lobster Tails Steamed in Beer

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2008
This is absolutely the easiest way to cook a tasty lobster. I added 3-4 minced garlic cloves to the beer and steamed them for about 9 and a half minutes. Watch them though...the key is to NOT overcook them. Remember, they'll cook a tad more after you remove them from the steamer before you can even get them out of the shell. I have done them twice and 9 minutes is perfect.

Chicken Tetrazzini IV

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
This was very good. I omitted the mushrooms but added frozed veggies: brocoli, corn, carrots - heated through of course. I also added 2-3 cloves of minced garlic to the butter before adding the flour. I also agree with another reviewer who said to double sauce-just preference. I'll make this again, for sure.

Nanny's Spaghetti Sauce

Good Base and quick sauce in a pinch, but it needed something. Maybe more fresh herbs, or something?

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
Perfect! Not too 'cakey' and was a hit with my 3yr old. FYI, make sure you use the topping mix right away-don't let it set out. The butter needs to be cold or it will just melt away and not make those yummy crumbles when cooked.

Yummy! The perfect bite for a party app. I drizzled with balsalmic vinegar just before serving as well as a little salt and fresh cracked pepper.

Awesome Honey Pecan Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
This was really tasty. I took others recc's and seasoned the chops with garlic pwdr, s, p, and tenderizer, then pounded. I then dredged in flour w/ additional seasoning (we like it flavorful & it was). Then prepared as stated. NOTE!!! When adding nuts and honey to pan, DO NOT overcook b/c it turns hard when cooled..like candy. My fault so I'll make it again; good flavor!

Hamburger Vegetable Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2008
GREAT recipe. The only changes I made were to replace 2 cups of water with more beef broth. I also sauteed the onions and celery first before adding to the pot and then cooked the beef in the same pan. FYI, recipe calls for 2oz of onion soup mix so check with your box to use the proper amount. At first, it seems to dominate the soup but after simmering for a while, the onion soup flavor mellows out and the soup is yum!!

Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2008
Perfect, perfect, perfect. Once it is combined with the feta and rest of the salad, this is the perfect Greek salad dressing. It is a good idea to mix the dressing with the salad veggies (except the lettuce, if using it) about an hour or 2 ahead of time. Then at the last minute, toss in the lettuce or put the lettuce on the bottom of a platter and pour veggies over for a great presentation.

Vegetable-Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
I liked this recipe but my DH said that it was too vinegar-y. He was right but it still had good flavors. I used large portobellos so I would only marinate these for half the time next time.

Pork Loin Stuffed with Spinach

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
After I read other reviews, I still thought that we would like the sauce b/c we love sauces on everything. The sauce for this is just odd. I love teriyaki sauce but this is just not a tasty combo w/ the ketchup. If you try it, I certainly would use plain breadcrumbs. I used seasoned and it was just too many flavors going on.

Cowboy Cookies III

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
I say YUM! I read some reviews and decided to tweak it a little-I used half butter-half shortening and I used and extra 1/2 t. baking powder (which I don't think it needed). I also decreased the sugars to 3/4 c each and used Splenda in place of the white sugar. They were really good. Next time I wouldn't add the additional baking powder b/c I don't think it needed it. I will definitely make this again and again. Note: The baking sheet you make these on makes a difference in the way the cookie bakes: I liked using the dark coated pans the best b/c it browned the bottom while the rest of the cookie remained nice and moist.

Very good. I used whole milk as well instead of water. Pretty sweet, so maybe next time I will used part whole milk and part 2%. Kids LOVED it.
