About this Cook
USN 20 years, retired now 10 years and have been hiking all that time on the Appalachian Trail, Eastern Continental Trail, Pacific Crest Trail and various others including the Chilkoot Trail in AK/Canada. Baking and cooking are a challenge in the motorhome I now live in full time these past 6 years.
My favorite things to cook
Cookies of any type and yeast breads including cinnamon rolls.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am the only one in my family that cooks from scratch on a regular basis so traditions for the family is finding a good place to eat when we get together. I like the traditions in my campground family of potlucks each winter/spring we come together in the campground in Florida. We each have our favorite dishes to make and mine is a fresh fruit salad that is always a big hit.
My cooking triumphs
Being asked by fellow Curve members for recipes used in our Christmas get togethers. Anytime my Grandmother would ask for one of my recipes it was a minor triumph as she was a great cook, one who had dinner parties and made all the food herself.
My cooking tragedies
Haven't had too many of these. The Navy taught me well but one I did have while in the motorhome was to mistakenly use the microwave vice the convection oven to bake and ended up with a hard as a rock batch of muffins.
