I had high hopes for this from reading the other reviews but found it mediocre and would not make it again.

Old-Time Popcorn Balls

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
I thought these were great! Had a craving for popcorn balls, looked on the site and voila, here's a great recipe! I halved it and it was fine. The only thing I wish I thought of ahead of time, which is now OBVIOUS, was to remove the unpopped kernals of corn before pouring the mixture over the popcorn. I wore disposable gloves and sprayed them with butter flavoured cooking spray to form the balls. Agree with other reviews that the molasses is not overpowering. Fantastic!

WWII Oatmeal Molasses Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2008
YUM! I added 2 tsp of cinnamon to this recipe, used 3 T of dark molasses and 2 T of light corn syrup, did not add walnuts or raisins. Ended up flattening the cookies a bit half way through baking the first batch. They turned out very well! Will definitely be making these again.

Cheeseburger and Fries Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2008
Oh my yummy goodness! Fantastic recipe. I substituted the mushroom soup for tomato soup and used Nacho Cheese soup. Topped with shredded "taco" cheese as well. What a keeper - when you're not counting calories, that is! Wonderful, thanks for sharing.

Easy Broccoli Quiche

This recipe is almost perfect as is, I followed the recommendation of another cook who advises to press the mozerella down over the pastry and it worked out like a dream! A HUGE hit in our family and a regular brunch item now!

Tuna Salad Pockets

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
Oh my, what an honour to be the first to rate this! Absolutely delicious. I was looking for a lower-fat tuna sandwich recipe without mayo and this one turned out extremely well. I eliminated the walnuts to reduce the calories a bit and didn't add green onions 'cause we are out of them and it's still fantastic! Great recipe, thanks!

Potato, Broccoli and Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2007
Loved this one! I cooked the broccoli seperately as called for in the recipe, but put the broccoli in a blender with about half a cup of sour cream and a bit of the broth from the cooking pot. "Mashed" the potatoes in the pot then added broccoli/sour cream mixture to the broth with the potatoes. Added 2 cloves of fresh garlic and used 1/2 a cup of "red hot" cheese and 2.5 cups of cheddar. Great recipe, thanks Caroline!

Broccoli Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2007
Greaet recipe! But boy, did I mess it up - I had very bad jetlag and decided to make this at 2a.m. since I could not sleep - I must have been really zoning as I did NOT sautee the onions and garlic - I just threw everything in a pot and started cooking :-) It turned out great!! As far as I am concerned if you can mess up the receipe and it still turns out well, it's a keeper :) Used veggie broth instead of chicken and fresh broccoli. Loved it!

Fruity Curry Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2007
Delicious! Used others' advice on waiting for a couple of days before eating. Gone in one sitting! Local grocery store didn't have spring onions so did without and it was fine. Used rotisserie chicken. Added about 1/2 a teaspoon more curry powder as well as well as replaced pecaaaans :) with cashews. NICE! Will make again!

One Bowl Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2007
Absolutely scrumptious. I am glad I read others' advice before making, otherwise would have worried about how runny it is at first. When it was baking, it really puffed up over the pan which was worrisome too, but settled down nicely as soon as it was removed. I iced this with "Satiny Chocolate Glaze" and it was a huge hit. Would definitely make again.

Black and Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2007
Really disappointed in this one. Used 1.5 cups of whole wheat flour and 1/2 cup of white flour and they turned out very sticky and flavourless. Is flavourless a real word? :) I guess it's mutually intelligible and that's what counts. Anyway, not a keeper, will not be making these again.

Molten Chocolate Cakes With Sugar-Coated Raspberries

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
Fantastic recipe! SO easy! I halved it, as I do with almost all new receipes I try. Used Hershey's chocolate chips and melted them wih the (salted) butter in the microwave(on a low setting), didn't add the pinch of salt, didn't use paper muffin cups but sprayed jumbo muffin tin with Pam with flour in it. They spilled out easily. Used thawed frozen berries (I live in the Middle East so fresh berries are EXPENSIVE HERE), rolled them in sugar and then topped off the cake with icing sugar for a nice look. Next time I will make them in ramekins at the advice of others, so no chocolate is lost when spilling them out! Excellent!

Magic Mango Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2007
I thought this receipt was NOT going to turn out only from my mistakes - I was having a hard time making it due to being distracted, interrupted a few times by ringing phones, doorbells and family but it turned out great! I had prepared and measured everything in advance and when I peeled the mango I realized I didn't have enough to make 3 cups. So I measured the ingredients I had already prepared (wet and dry) and placed half of them aside so I could make the rest tomorrow and use the mangos I had cut. Then in my distraction I ended up putting half of the dry ingredients back in again by mistake! So I ended up having to bake it using half the mango and everything else as listed - and EVEN with messing up the order of mixing and half the mangos, it was fantastic. I was experimenting because I need to prepare some mango dishes for work next week and I will definitely be making this again (and ensuring I have enough mangos this time!) Great recipe, thanks for sharing!

Ginger Snap Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2007
These turned out fantastically! I wish I had read the 'replacing crystallized ginger' with fresh ginger before making them ("my bad!") - I live in the Middle East and have to import crystallized ginger - it's so expensive even in Canada, importing it makes it even more so! Fresh ginger is extremely cheap here and in huge abundance, so I will definitely be making these again skipping crystallized and upping fresh! Great recipe, it's going in the recipe box for sure.

Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2007
Like many others, I was wondering how the chicken soup would be when combined with the yogurt and cheese, but it was great! I would use a combination of cheese next time, perhaps taco cheese or something with a wee bit more kick. It's certainly not a "pretty" dish, but you can jazz up the presentation a bit with some salsa drizzled along the top and perhaps green and black olives as a garnish - cilantro would be great, too! This turned out to be MUCH better than I thought. Wonderful!
