About this Cook
I'm a mom of 3 kids(4 if you include hubby!). I live in a city, but have a country background (oh, how I miss W. VA!!)I work for a flower nursery, which is appropriate since I enjoy gardening. I love the "old ways" as people around here call them. I love canning, making things from scratch (over store bought syrups, seasonings, etc.) I meet (through my job) alot of people from the "older" generation who are amazed that I not only grow vegetables, but I also have berries and fruit trees in my backyard that I preserve. They tell me how the "homemade" or "made from scratch" days are disappearing and are actually pleased when they hear I actually enjoy these "traditions". That's when they tend to give me their favorite recipes and hints from cooking, to baking, to preserving, to gardening! lol
My favorite things to cook
I bake best, but thanks to this website my cooking has GREATLY improved! I have learned to can/preserve and I have learned how to make my own seasonings and staples to save money.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Moms and daughters in my family have baked TONS of Holiday cookies, cakes, pies, etc. I'm adding canning/preserving and homemade seasonings, syrups, extracts, etc to the list.
My cooking triumphs
The meal is edible!! lol Learning how to preserve and making homemade staples to save the family money!
My cooking tragedies
Too many to count or remember!!! But getting much better!! lol

Spaghetti Pizza Lasagna
Upon reading other reviews I cut back on the milk, and cooked an extra 15 min. It still came out watery. Otherwise, it tasted like spaghetti. I doubt I'll make it again, making old fashion spaghetti would be quicker.
