Southern Shortcake

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
The dough was incredibly sticky so I ended up just making drop biscuits. Thankfully they turned out nicely, adding a couple of extra minutes to the baking time for larger biscuits, and about 1/4 cup sugar to make them sweeter.

Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
From this recipe I made the shortcake, very good! I didn't change anything and they turned out wonderfully. The second time I made them I thought they could use a bit more sugar, so I added another tbsp (we like to eat them on their own too!). I also made hockey puck sized individual shortcakes instead of a whole one, they take about the same time in the oven and I ended up with about 8 using this recipe. Thanks!

Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2009
Probably the best choco-chip cookies I have made yet! They turned out just great, and yes, I *did* double the recipe! I really don't see why doubling the recipe would make your cookies not soft...mine were perfectly soft! Anyway friends and family couldn't get enough of these, even the realtor took some home! Tip - Take cookies out of the oven when you notice the edges start turning the slightest tinge of brown...the cookies may look undone, but if you stick a knife in the centre you will see they are!

Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
Great recipe! The cookies were great consistency, chewy on the inside and a little crunchy on the outside! I rolled into 1 inch balls, and then using a flour dusted glass bottom I flattened them and used my cookie cutters fo different shapes! When they were done I mixed a little icing sugar with water and food coloring, painted the cookies with it and added sprinkles! They looked so festive I think I will make them for the fmaily on Christmas! Thanks a bunch!

Ashley's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
Edible...but not great. They taste okay...a bit cakey but the main thing was that they didn't flatten at all! I pressed down the second batch just so the cookie would be bigger! Oh and definately does not make 3 dozen! I ended up with probably about 2 dozen small cookies.

Rosemary Baked Potato Wedges

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
Yummy wedges! I cut down the recipe to 10 servings, and we had some leftover for the next day. I found the mixture didn't stick to the wedges very well (maybe next time I will try more butter), so I packed them tightly on the pan and poured over what was left of the mixture. Very good! Will make again.

Herb and Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
Used the basic recipe for the chicken, but added other spices (dashes of paprika, cayenne, chili powder, oregano) and also a can of diced tomatoes. Also left in the onions and garlic, but took out the pasta, turned out good and spicy! Have a glass of milk with this one.

All American Apple Pie

Very good! I made my own crust from a family recipe, and added half Golden Delicious apples, with half Granny Smith. So yummy, I will definately be making this one again!

Chicken Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
Pretty good recipe, thanks! I changed only a couple of things. Instead of spaghetti I added macaroni noodles, and I cut some chicken breasts into small chunks, and cooked them on the frying pan with a little oil. Into the chicken I added in one clove of minced garlic, and one onion, chopped. Topping with marble cheese, I baked for 25 minutes, and it came out yummy!

Sara's Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
Yum yum yum! Tasty pumpkin pie filling...needed to be cooked a bit longer, but other than that, great! I didbn't have any ground ginger, so I skipped it out and it turned out just fine without it. Thanks for the recipe!

Spicy Flat Iron Steak Rub

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2008
Really good steak rub! I didn't have three kinds of chili powder on hand, so I just added 1 tbps of the plain old chili powder, and then a couple dashes of paprika, rosemary, thyme and cajun each, yum yum! Only had time to marinate for 45 minutes, and it turned out great! Thanks :)

Simple Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
Pretty good! Followed the recipe closely, except for not adding any celery(not a fan), and the store ran out of green pepper so I had two red and one yellow. Also I sifted the veggie soup mix, and then blended the dried vegetables in my magic bullet until they were very fine and added them in with the mayo. When I tasted it, it was extremely salty...so next time I will not puree the vegetables, and just leave them out. I compensated for the saltyness with sugar, and quite a bit of it...probably 1/8 cup if I had to guess. Anyway this completely fixed my problem and after a few hours in the fridge it tasted DELICIOUS! So thanks for the recipe! Will make again for sure, the DH loved it!

Whipped Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
Good cookies. I added a tsp of vanilla and following someone else's advice beat the butter for 5 min, then added icing sugar and beat for another 5 min, then added the vanilla and some food coloring for something different, and then flour in 3 equal parts beating for 2 min in between each addition. I then beated the mix for another 4 minutes, spooned onto cookie sheets and added a chopped cherry to each. I baked for 10-12 minutes and they came out delicious!

Pie Crust V

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
Very good pie crust. I used this recipe to make lemon meringue pie, and it turned out great! I don't know why but I can never seem to roll out and transfer a pie crust without it cracking and breaking, even though this dough was very moist since I added a whole egg. Call me innovative I ended up using a cake pan to make the pie since I have no pie plates, but it turned out great even when I had to press the dough into the pan where pieces had broken off! Good recipe, 4 stars.

Chili-Lime Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
Loved this recipe, it was delicious! I doubled the marinade though and added my veggies to it, to sit for about 1 and a 1/2 hours. Veggies I added were tomatoes, onions, mini potatoes, and one of each color of bell pepper. I also lightly oiled the bbq as suggested by someone else, and they turned out great. I will definately be maing this one again...yummy and so easy!

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2008
Didn't really like this recipe...the main flavor was ketchup! I thought it should've been more tomatoey and less sweet. I used real onion and garlic, and also added the tsp of chili powder. Don't think I will be making this one again.

Apple Enchilada Dessert

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2008
Very yummy recipe! I found using only 5 tortillas was better, I didn't have enough filling for 6! As with other reviewers I let the topping sit for a while to become a bit thicker, and then spooned it over the tortillas. I also baked them for 40 minutes and they turned out beautifully...nice and crispy and goes great with ice cream! They were gone so fast I didn't get a chance to take a picture until the next batch! Oh and try adding different fillings, like cherry (mm mm gooood)!
