About this Cook
God gave us so many amazing foods, and the possibilities are so vast in how to put them together, that holding something as simple as an apple can make me smile. I love my family, so cooking things we all love is a fabulous way to bring us all together. I love natural and organic foods, and enjoy supporting Fair Trade. Hydrogenated oils are a big no-no in our house, butter tastes and works better anyway. Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe's, Wild Oats and Lassen's are my favorite markets, and I love getting fresh produce from our local farms.
My favorite things to cook
Probably fresh bread, with dessert coming in a close second. I love to assemble sandwiches. Making Italian food is pleasant and sensual. Making breakfast is sweet and awakening. I am delighted by the experience and nostalgia of cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hm. I'd ask my mom to make a rich chocolate mousse every year for my birthday. I have made it a few times on my own, and still get a happy feeling when I serve it up in custard cups and enjoy it with a tiny spoon.

Pie Crust V
Use the whole egg, and don't roll this recipe! It's meant to be pressed evenly into the pie pan quickly after mixing. Great for strawberry pie.

French Bread Rolls to Die For
I've tried several French Bread recipes, this is by far the best! I halved this recipe into one loaf and I added an extra pinch of salt. I used my bread machine to knead the dough and let it rise the first time. I formed the loaf on parchment, let it rise another 45 minutes and brushed the top of the loaf with an egg white before baking on a preheated baking stone. Great stuff!!

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken
Yep, this works. I have never had to add liquid, but for those of you who have heard of it, Herbamare is great with this chicken. If you're cooking for 2, you can use smaller pieces. I've tried wings, drumsticks, whole legs too (I removed the skin first, and sprinkled the meat directly, to save fat). All of them came out great.
