About this Cook
I work in publicity and marketing in the music industry. This does not leave me much time to cook, so I cherish the time I can spend in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new things, and my husband's opinion is the barometer of my success. I've become enamored of Italian and Meditteranean style cooking, and my thick and tangy marina sauce garners rave reviews. My eggplant parmigiana is definitely my best, though time consuming to prepare, so the end result is especially sweet.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family has an Eastern European background. Due to that, I cook a lot of chicken soup! My mom is a prolific cook and I hope to carry on that tradition.
My cooking triumphs
I have always wanted to cook but was never very successful at it. I immediately wanted to follow my own instincts instead of directions. My ultimate triumph was learning to follow directions and then follow my own instincts, and not the other way around. Now everyone compliments me on my cooking!
My cooking tragedies
I once forgot to put sugar in an apple cake I baked for my family. Oops!

Fig and Goat Cheese Pizza
The flavor combinations of this pizza are simply amazing. I could not find fresh figs so I spread some organic fig jam on the dough after the olive oil. I also used a bit of mozzarella cheese, then topped with goat cheese and a bit of ricotta as well, which really mellowed out the tartness of the goat cheese. Really incredibly delicious.

Cinnamon and Lime Chicken Fajitas
The shredded chicken turned to mush and the only flavor i could taste was cinnamon. I had some leftovers the next day and they tasted better after sitting for a while - only then could I get the heat of the jalapenos.

Blue Cheese Fettucine
I used spinach-flavored fettucine, which provided a great extra flavor element. The blue cheese taste was surprisingly mild, in the best possible way.
