Turkey a la King Deluxe

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2009
As far as "a la king" goes this was so good! I used fresh parsley (had some left from Thanksgiving to use up) and added a little extra sherry towards the end. I only had heavy cream but that worked fine. We loved it! Thanks!

Linguine with Spinach and Brie

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2009
Great idea... Sounds delicious and I really wanted to love it but unfortunately it is really lacking in flavor. I did add some chopped up sundried tomatoes to try to jazz it up a bit but still didn't do the trick. It's not horrible by any means but really needs some flavor. Maybe some basil and parsley? Hmmm. Thanks for the recipe as it has potential.

Loved this dip! We did add a little extra green onion but other than that followed exact. Thanks for the recipe.

Oven-Roasted Root Vegetables

Matt made these for Thanksgiving. I grumbled and grumbled about doing something that takes so long the day of. Well, I was wrong! It was the most well received veggie dish of the day. Everyone loved them.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
Used panko as that's all I had. Other than that, I followed everything else. I found tht their was WAY too much cumin for our tastes. We like cumin but this seemed overpowering. I didn't have any trouble with them falling apart. However, I had made them earlier in the day and they sat in the fridge for a few hours before dinner time. Not sure if this helped them stay together or not.

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
Very good! Especially liked the tang of the mustard, I used dijon. For the beef I used rib eye as that's what I had on hand. Used fresh sliced mushrooms, regular yellow onion and added a clove of garlic. Other than that followed everything else. Thanks for the recipe. I'll surely use it again. Tasty comfort food and simple to prepare.

Very tasty and simple. I used 1 TBS of butter rather than 3. Still came out great!

Chicken Fajita Seasoning

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Fantastic! I did not use the cilantro/coriander as I just don't care for it. Also, I sliced up my chicken and marinated it for a few hours in the seasoning mix before dinner. Then when it was time to cook I drained it, cooked up the chicken and then added the rest of the marinade back to the pan. We just loved this! So flavorful. The best fajitas I've ever made. I did use the whole 2 tsp. of cumin. Also, I was skeptical about the worcestershire sauce but ended up loving that addition. Thanks for the recipe! It's a keeper.

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
Verygood lemonade! I made this with my 3 yr. old last weekend and he had lots of fun sqeezing all the lemons. I didn't read the directions throughly and did not heat the sugar water mixture. I just mixed it all together and it turned out just fine! Love it. Thanks for the recipe!

Linda's Beef Marinade

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
Good marinade. I used fresh onion and garlic. Also, The only Teriyaki sauce I had on hand was already sweetened. I did not take that into consideration before adding the honey. Next time I will use unsweetened Teriyaki or cut the honey considerably. All in all a good recipe. Cooks error with the sweetness. Thanks

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
Great Apple Crisp! I cut the flour, sugar and butter down a bit and increased the amount of apples to really fill the pan to the top (didn't measure, just kept adding until full). Next time to make it healthier, I will only make 1/2 the oatmeal mixture and only put it on top. I suppose when I want to splurge or make it for company I'll put it on both the bottom and top but I don't think it really needs it my opinion. Thanks for the recipe. Will make again!

Applesauce Cake IV

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
Very good! I am always looking for sweets recipes without eggs and nuts. I omitted the raisins as I didn't have any and my little guy doesn't like them anyway. Made this as muffins and they turned out great. Most of the cakes I make without eggs turn out so dense but this did not. This turned out moist and fluffy. The only thing I will change next time is to decrease the amount of clove. It was a little too prominant for my taste. Might try subbing WW flour as many reviewers did. Thanks for a great recipe without eggs and nuts! Will make again and again!

Pork Medallions with Balsamic Vinegar and Capers

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
LOVED this sauce!!! Next time though I think I'll just brown the medallions without the flour. Personal preference for texture. Then add a little flour slurry to sauce to thicken it up. All in all a fantastic recipe! Will make a again! Thanks for the recipe!

Smooth Sweet Tea

Love the method of making this tea (the pinch of baking powder). Great idea. Way too much sugar for us though. Will make this a lot but I'll keep it unsweetened and let people sweeten themselves. Thanks for the recipe.

Baked Kale Chips

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2009
Interesting, different and tasty. I did sprinkle a little garlic powder in addition to the seasoned salt. Sprayed the kale with "Olivio" spray instead of using the oil called for. The recipe submitter's review states that spraying them is a good way to do it. I agree. Thanks for the recipe. Will make again!

Papa Drexler's Bavarian Pretzels

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
The flavor of these was great! We used brown sugar in place of white just because my almost 3yr. old was helping and insisted. Also, I found that after doing the water bath on a few that ones that were in the water just off the stove turned out best. Next time I'll keep the water simmering the whole time. I did need to cook mine an extra 5 minutes but ovens vary. Can't wait to make these again! Thanks for the recipe.

Tacos in Pasta Shells

These were good. Different way to make stuffed shells. I'll definitely make them again. I did use 1/2 a packet of "Ortega" taco seasoning instead of the chili powder. Thanks for the recipe!

Honeyed Ham Glaze

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2009
This was definitely different. Not so sure about the ketchup in this though. Tatsed kinda "off" to me. My son liked it though. We tried it on a ham steak and the glaze didn't really "glaze". As it cooked the glaze became watery. Maybe it was that the ham had lots of water in it? Don't know. Thanks anyway! My son ate meat and that;s all that counts, I guess.
