Hot Crab Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2009
Good! I used a mix of cheddar and colby. I added a bit more crab, less cheese all around and added Old Bay.

Lemon Macaroon Tartlets

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
I had success with these. I did notice that you really need to squish the mixture down into the tartlet cups. They puffed a little and the cups weren't as deep (or cooked) as I would've liked. Next time I'll use less coconut mixture per tartlet cup. I also used a chocolate mousse recipe from this site for the filling and sprinkled toasted sliced almonds on most of them. They were excellent!

Kathy's Roast and Vegetables

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
This was excellent! I didn't have 2 cans of mushroom soup so I used one cream of celery and one cream of mushroom. I crushed about 5 cloves of garlic and threw that in too. I omitted the potatoes but put a handful of baby carrots and whole mushrooms about half way through. I had a 3 lb chuck roast that I seared with red wine and olive oil. I cooked it in the crock pot on medium for about 8 hours. It came out wonderfully and I served it over mashed potatoes. I also made gravy out of the leftover sauce in the pot.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
This was actually pretty dry and fluffy and I cut it down to one egg, per other reviewers' advice. I did add some minced onion and garlic to the butter in the beginning but even then it didn't have a ton of flavor. This probably is a good base mac and cheese recipe. I will add more Velveeta for creaminess and some sharper, better cheddar for the next try.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
Excellent. I followed a lot of reviewers' advice. I whipped the heck out of everything and all ingredients were room temp. I think I baked it about 1 hour and 25 or 30 mins. I served it with a raspberry rhubarb sauce (2 stalks chopped rhubarb, 2 pints raspberries boiled with 1/2 cup water, 1 cup sugar, 2 tbsp arrowroot).

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
This was pretty good. It tasted a little like just rice with lots of soy sauce. I did add bean sprouts and I liked the cool crunch of them. I also added peas. Will probably make this again but was hoping for a more unique flavor.

Wonderful! I used peaches, lemons, limes and apples. I soaked them overnight in cherry brandy (Kirsch). Exactly what I was looking for!

Rosemary Roasted Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
We liked this. I grilled the tenderloin rather than roasting it. I might use a bit more mustard next time around as I found myself wanting more of that flavor rather than the sweetness that the juice adds.

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Great recipe. I made it almost exactly as is. I didn't have shallots, so I minced about 1/4 cup of onions and 2 smallish garlic cloves instead. Everyone loved this!

Angel Food Cake III

Reviewed: May 10, 2009
Really good. I'm confused by the recipe's instructions to invert on a bottle. Huh? Wouldn't the cake fall out in chunks? I have now made this three times and I think I've perfected the folding technique. It really makes a difference when you do it right!

Better Than Sex Cake I

My boyfriend had this at a party and requested it. I used caramel topping instead of fudge because that's his favorite. I also made my own whipped cream. Awesome! Thank you!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
This is an excellent recipe. I made 2 9" cakes and made a little extra frosting. I also followed another reviewer's advice and used 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup brown sugar and added strained crushed pineapple (1 cup?) and 1 tsp extra vanilla. I also squeezed out the shredded carrots to prevent the cakes from being too moist. Everyone at my Easter dinner raved, saying I should sell this cake. Thanks!!

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

This was great! I couldn't find chocolate cookie crumbs and didn't feel like making my own, so I used the Basic Cheesecake recipe's crust from this site. No cracks in the cake either. Fabulous.

Cheese Fondue

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
The flavor was great, I had no trouble with it being grainy or lumpy like the other reviewers said. I used extremely high quality Gruyere and Baby Swiss. Unfortunately, I couldn't really get it to incorporate with the wine. Any thoughts?! The cheese was like big lump sitting in really good wine/cheese broth.

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Maybe I didn't cook the toffee long enough (20 mins?). My toffee was really soft when I broke it up and pretty much tasted like white sugar with chocolate on top. Way too sweet. :(

Basic Cheesecake

I served this for Thanksgiving along with my pies. I followed all of the tips but it still had 3 HUGE cracks in it. I put a can of cherry pie filling on top and it was gorgeous and everyone loved it. Very creamy and the crust was fantastic.

Apple Avocado Salad with Tangerine Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
Everyone liked this salad for Thanksgiving. I added almost a half of a can of mandarin orange juice because I was going off of memory rather than looking at the recipe. I was concerned that it would be too thin, but it was great. Excellent blend of flavor.

Butter Tarts I

HA! I've been looking for this recipe for years! This is great!! I followed the other reviewers' advice and put the raisins in the bottom and then poured the filling over that. They plumped up really nicely. Also, I used muffin tins and just lined those with pastry. Awesome!!
