About this Cook
I am an avid learner in all aspects of my life, so naturally this extends to my passion for cooking. I enjoy watching cooking shows, reading cookbooks and cooking-related magazines, as well as perusing the 'net for new recipes and cooking tips!
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy baking so desserts are always at the top of my list. I also like to cook spicy dishes like chili. However, I must say that I take pleasure in cooking anything that brings a smile to the face of the person who winds up eating it. Cooking for me is about taking care of my loved ones and treating them to something special!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have many fond memories of hours spent in the kitchen with my mom. I learned the basics of cooking from her, and I am carrying on the tradition of some of her best recipes like her macaroni and cheese.
My cooking triumphs
I was really proud of the Buche de Noel cake that I made a couple of years ago. It was the most difficult cake that I have made to date and it turned out great!
My cooking tragedies
I've never set the house on fire or anything like that (lol, thank goodness!). I don't think I've ever suffered anything that qualifies as a tragedy, but I've definitely thrown away some meals that just didn't work out. :p

Nonna's Tuscan Salad Dressing
I used balsamic vinegar instead of red wine vinegar, and I added more garlic because we are garlic fiends! This is tasty recipe - it worked very well as the base dressing for a pasta salad.

Mexican Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas
I'm living in Argentina where store-bought tortillas are not an option! I have made this recipe twice now. The first time I used 1/2 cup of vegetable oil. The taste was good but I felt they were lacking flexibility. The second time I used one cup of vegetable oil, and I thought they turned out perfectly. I use all-purpose flour instead of whole wheat. Thanks for helping me re-create some of my favorite Mexican recipes here in Argentina!

Irish Bannock
I added the full cup of buttermilk as well and shaped the sticky dough on the cookie sheet. I also used raisins instead of currants. It turned out great. Thanks for the recipe!
