About this Cook
I am passionate about international foods and good wine, but I love dives and road food just as well!
My favorite things to cook
Crock pot recipes, Vegetarian foods, Hummus, Random weird cookies, Casseroles, Retro Recipes
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every one of my recipes isn't half as good as my grandma's! She makes this potato salad that will make you cry for real...
My cooking triumphs
I invented a Thai Eggroll that is still getting requested. I also got 3rd runner up in a Chili Cookoff a few years ago (ok, there were only three participants but I still got a trophy). There are probably 100 off-the-cuff recipes that I made up, loved, and instantly forgot!
My cooking tragedies
3 words: croque-en-bouche! I ended up sobbing in the middle of the kitchen floor glazed in caramel.

Cuban Black Beans II
I found this recipe really bland, and it took about three times as long to cook as it should have. I soaked the beans overnight, cooked them on high in a crockpot for 3 hours, and it still took 3-4 more hours on the stovetop for them to cook. The results were unremarkable, but they were pretty good on top of nachos.

Toffee Caramel Squares
The crust came out really dry and floury for me, but the caramel layer was pure gold! This is the easiest caramel recipe I've ever used, and it set up perfectly.

Tomato Cucumber Salad II
What a delicious easy salad! I did make a few changes, I omitted the garlic (I just don't like garlic), added a few tablespoons of tarragon vinegar, and a tablespoon of sugar. I also added a few sprigs of chopped dill, it really complimented the flavors. I'm sure I added more mayo than the recipe calls for, but honestly, you can't really have too much mayo :) Great easy summer salad!
