About this Cook
I'm 47, married, with 2 kids. I love to cook and especially love baking. My husband is a vegetarian who eats no milk products, a few egg whites, and very little added fat. On the other hand, my children seem to think square meals means you live on only 4 different foods. It's a challenge sometimes but I love a challenge.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, especially cakes, cookies, and pies that make people say "this is delicious!" I'm "BAZAARBAKER" because I bake hundreds of cakes, cookies, candies, and other goodies for my church Christmas bazaar in November. My specialty is cinnamon buns. I make 40 - 50 pans of cinnamon buns (4 buns per pan) and they're usually gone within two hours after the bazaar starts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking Thanksging Dinner and baking Christmas treats. Each year I use several old standard recipes and always try at least one new recipe.
My cooking triumphs
I guess my greatest triumph is Thanksgiving Dinner. I make two complete dinners, plus vegan stuff for my husband - all homemade and all made on Thanksgiving Day (except for pies and rolls which I make the day before.) I usually have 16 - 18 family members at my house for dinner and we take a separate Thanksgiving dinner to my elderly grandparents the same day. It takes a lot of planning and organization and I love doing it.
My cooking tragedies
Most tragedies result from forgetting things... forgetting to put the salt or yeast in the bread, forgetting to put the paddle in the bread machine, forgetting to put the corn in the lentil burritos, etc. Also, once I made a zucchini bread in a stone pan and the entire middle was uncooked batter when I took the bread out of the pan. The outside tasted great but the mush ended up in the trash.

Almond Butter Cookies
I LOVE Harry & David Gallettes and wanted to find a way to make an equivalent cookie. This recipe works perfectly. I rolled them into balls and smashed them down, cooked them on the short side (7.5 minutes), and then put two together with seedless raspberry or blackberry jam as filling. DELICIOUS!!!

Vegetarian Mushroom-Walnut Meatloaf
I don't like mushrooms but I made this for my vegetarian husband (and our other guests) for Thanksgiving. Everyone loved it and some even went back for seconds. I'll take their word for it that this recipe is five stars.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing
I thought there was way too much meat for the amount of bread. I'll make it for Thanksgiving again next year but reduce or eliminate the sausage and liver. The apple and cranberries give a nice fruity sweetness and tartness. The herbs are very nice and well balanced.
