About this Cook
I'm soon to turn the big 5-0. I was born in London (England) and now live in Yorkshire (also in England). I make my living selling clothes on eBay. Its the perfect job for me as it gives me plenty of time for walking my dogs and cooking!
My favorite things to cook
Anything spicy. I love things like the hot, spicy and sweet North African tagines and Indian dishes. Though this website I have discovered that there is more to Mexican food than the basic chili I've always made.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Definitely Christmas. Christmas in Great Britain is THE big food occasion of the year. I spend weeks planning it and carry it out with military precision. Each family have their own traditions and my (second) husband brought some new ones with him when we got married a few years ago.
My cooking triumphs
Apart from my annual Christmas Dinner I think that my biggest triumph was coping with my daughter deciding she was a vegetarian one day when she was 12. She reverted back to eating some meat when she was 17 but we still enjoy some of the wonderful vegetarian dishes I learned to cook during those 5 years.
My cooking tragedies
Big cakes. I don't like baking cakes and I think it shows in how they turn out. They always sink in the middle. I'm okay with little ones though - but people prefer my savoury cooking (and so do I!)

Chicken Breasts Pierre
It would have been wonderful except that my husband cooked it and forgot that the chili powder we get over here is a LOT hotter than is normal in the US! The flavour was great but it was painfully hot to eat. I'll cook it next time......!

Baked Pork Chops I
My husband cooked this for me. The only thing he did different from the recipe was to add extra garlic. He loved it but I thought it was a little bland.

Cajun Chicken Pasta
Wonderful! I used 3 cloves of garlic and half a cup of grated fresh parmesan but everything else remained the same. I will definitely be making this again because the whole family loved it. I might also try using whole boneless/skinless chicken breasts but it really is very good just as it was.
