I'm a born-again Christian girl with a young family in sunny Western Australia. I have really only become interested in cooking and learning more about cooking in the last year or so, since previously living with a housemate who didn't have a clue how to cook -- so it was all up to me! Other thank cooking I enjoy spending time with friends, church and my family. I also enjoy decorating my home as much as cooking!
My favorite things to cook
I really like making sweets and treats, though I would like to learn a lot more quick, sort of 'on the run' meals, as we are often really pressed for time to eat on weeknights. And I need to get into more healthy eating aswell to shed some kilos!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We don't really have any family cooking traditions yet... but my parents have a tradition each Christmas that all of the kids have to come home and stir the christmas pudding mixture before Dad cooks it... it's meant to 'add something' to the pudding ;)
My cooking triumphs
The very first recipe I ever made from AllRecipes.com was also the hardest thing I've ever made. It was called the Chocolate Crackle Christmas Tree and was a very time-consuming (as in 3 days!) thing to make. It was well-worth it in the end, especially after I added small candles and lit it all up.. it looked good enough to eat - and we did! Everyone took photos of it aswell, so I was really proud!
My cooking tragedies
Making my own gravy... my husband still laughs at me about it, and my son said it was the worst gravy ever in the whole world. You'd think it'd be something no one would be able to mess up, but mess it up I did!
