Beer Bread I

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
Delish and simple! I had to make my own self-rising flour (from the recipe on this site) and used some leftover Dos Equis XX and it was fantastic! My only complaint was that it was a bit dry, but that was nothing a bit of butter+honey couldn't resolve. I ate it hot out of the oven, yum! =)

Pumpkin Flax Quickbread

Oh my...wonderful! I did make some slight changes, though -- added raisins (75g), and used orange juice for my liquid, and used all wheat flour. I also subbed in fruit sugar (fructose) and only used 150g, and it was plenty sweet. It tastes wonderful. Thanks for the recipe! ^_^

Hominy Beef Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
My boyfriend rather liked this. I did tinker a wee bit with the recipe (sorry!) because of what I had on hand. Instead of chili powder, I used about a tbs and a half of taco seasoning. I also didn't have corn chips on hand, so I made a cornbread batter and spread that on top, and baked it at 450 for 20min. Thank you for the yummy recipe! ^^

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
Very good recipe! I made minor changes that I don't think had any major affect on the overall recipe. I didn't have much ground beef left, so I mixed it with ground turkey. I also didn't have any beef broth, so I just used water. I was also low on ingredients, so I mashed the carrots roughly together with the potatoes to add bulk. (Pretty!) And, to make it a bit more healthful, I threw in about a cup of steamed mixed veggies, and added cheese to each layer (a little /less/ healthful, but tasty nonetheless). Very nommy. Boyfriend polished off over half of it tonight. =D Thanks for the recipe!

Creole Butter Beans

I rather enjoyed these. Very flavorful and spicy, albeit a bit salty. The tomato flavor was a bit too prevalent at first, but mellowed out when I went in for leftovers. Thanks for the recipe! ^_^

Awesome basic recipe! I found mine to be a bit thick, so I'll dilute it next time with extra milk. Thanks! <3

Fluffy Pancakes

Yummy! I made these as stated the first time, and they were perfect. I made them again today and was feeling lazy, so I subbed in oil for the shortening and they were still just as awesome. ^_^ Thanks!

Pfeffernusse Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
Absolutely best cookie ever! I did increase the pepper, as I like my cookies spicy, and I didn't have any molasses on hand, so I subbed in honey. My co-workers didn't care for them (too spicy, but that's my fault), but I loved them.

Thanks for the recipe, but be sure to make sure you get vegetarian Worcestershire sauce, since the original kind is made with fish. ^^ <3

Creamiest Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
Wow. I uber-dig this recipe! I didn't use milk for the initial boil, as I can't quite digest milk, but after I took it off the heat and added in the egg (I used egg substitute), /that's/ when I added the milk. It didn't detract from the creaminess or richness at all. I also used Splenda for sweetness. I love this recipe! ^_^ <3

Pfeffernusse Kuchen

Fantastic! I followed the recipe almost exactly (didn't let them sit out overnight, though; I'm an antsy cookie-eater) for hubby and they were delicous. I also made a "diet" version for myself with Splenda and pasteurized egg whites (ie, Egg Beaters) and even those were fantastic! I ate the entire batch (shame on me) and will make them again. Thank you! <3

Oh my wow. This has to be one of the most delicious things to ever come out of my oven...light, airy, fluffy, and relatively easy to make as well! I will definitely make these again. Thanks for the recipe!

This was very good, very easy for me to make. Alas, I didn't read the reviews before tackling it, and my potatoes were hard. u.u; Next time, I'll boil them. I also had to add a bit of corn starch to thicken the sauce, but it was very delicious. Thanks for the recipe!

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Spiffeh! :D This recipe was simple, and my roomie thought they were "yummy"! I substituted rum extract for the almond, and used apricot preserves, since that's all we had on hand. Great recipe!

Cinnamon Cookies II

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2005
Very good, very tasty. I rather enjoyed the texture and taste of these cookies. However, they were a bit sticky, so I had to add extra flour, and the cinnamon flavor could have been stronger, so in the final batch, I added extra. All were very yummy, though, and I enjoyed several before prying myself away from them. :)

Emily's Famous Marshmallows

These were the most fun, most awesome, most yummiest thing I've ever made! Even though I messed up the recipe (I added the gelatin too quickly/too soon, and it overflowed all over the stovetop) it still solidified and I had a delightful time making shapes out of the goo and decorating them. <3

Old-Fashioned Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2004
I'm sure it was great, but I never before had the opportunity to enjoy fudge that wasn't insta-fudge (with confectioner's sugar and marshmallows) so I was unsure what to expect. Was a little grainy and brittle, but might've been my fault. It was my first try. Good flavor. Took FOREVER to cook though.
