Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
Yum. Made as written with addition of 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg and some white pepper. Tasty and delicious, the cheese did fine melting in since it was in tiny chunks from the food processor. Served with steamed brocolli. Appreciate not having to use egg. Hurray for heart-attack food at home! Thanks!

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
Yummmm... tasty and delicious. For the reviewer who followed the recipe to the t and ended up with crackers- it probably wasn't the recipe so much as using a bad batch of yeast. It's a living thing, only the stuff that is alive will make the dough poof.

Stef's Super Cheesy Garlic Bread

I had chedder and swiss cheese, so that's what I used. Man, is this bread tasty! Rave reviews from the dinner party that was over also. Thanks!

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
I cheated and prebaked the meatballs at 350 for 20 minutes- I made about 50 little ones. Also, I doubled up the sauce and added 2 8 ounce cans of petite diced tomatoes and a bunch more fresh herbs. That said, these meatballs were super easy and simmered away for an additional hour until they were tender and very tasty. Thanks!

Light and Fluffy Spinach Quiche

I was scared of the mayo and for good reason- it was quite tasty day one, but had a strange after-taste the next day warmed back up. Thanks!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Wow! I'm adding sugared candy ginger bits next time, but this was outstanding! One huge loaf, (baked for an hour at 350,) and 12 muffins came out of this mix. Thanks!

Eggless Tofu Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2009
I added steamed asparagus along with the spinach. The tofu didn't look like it was going to come together at first- it looked a bit like curdled milk in the mixer. But lo and behold, once it baked (in a pre-baked crust) for about 45 minutes, it firmed up quite nicely. Since I can't have egg yolk anymore, this was a great sub. Thanks!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

I eyeballed the instructions and pretty much followed them, added cauliflower, carrots, potato and pretty much doubled the sauce without adding more butter. This was amazing- the eight year old in my life proclaimed: "This is like heaven!"

Pumpkin Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
My mom made a similar version of this stew every Halloween before we were allowed to get into costume and hit the streets for candy gold. We add 8 dried apricots, cut in half, and 1/4 cup golden raisins. It adds a little sweetness to the recipe and taste REALLY good when they plump up from the liquid. Thanks!

Tortellini Soup I

Added carrots, fresh green beans, used canned tomatos, it was tasty and delicious. Too lazy to add wine, dumped all the veggies in at once at the start. Really good!

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2009
Wow. This simmered on the back of my stove for about three hours while we ate curry for dinner last night. Needless to say, the boys couldn't stay out of it and it was dessert. We're REALLY looking forward to dinner this evening- I changed only a few things: one can of kidney beans in place of one can of chili beans, and I only added 1/2 jalapeno as the store didn't have fresh green chilis. It isn't too hot, the spice is great- the taste is really rich and hearty, perfect for the cold weather we've been having. Thanks, totally delicious!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
I really wanted to be impressed. I made it exactly to the instructions, with the exception of using blue cheese dressing. While it was eaten by a couple of people, there was still a bunch left over, and I wasn't impressed at all with the flavor and texture. It just seemed gummy and oily, and I used quality cheese too. I won't make this again- back to artichoke dip for me!

Italian Sausage Tortellini Soup

Tasty and delicious! I just used sausage that was already uncased and I also left out the wine because I didn't feel like uncorking an entire bottle. My boyfriend DUG this, he ate four bowls three hours after getting his galbladder removed. Hungry guy, I guess.

I threw everything in a bread machine, set it for the next morning, braided it and put the eggs in the braid into the oven for 27 minutes. This bread is really tasty, even using the bread machine. Thanks.

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2006
Wow- after all the good reviews, I thought this would be a shoe-in. Instead, it was a bland lentil soup. If we try this again, I will sub veggie broth for water. I was underimpressed. Adding some fat free sour cream on top at the end helped a little.

Cream Puffs

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2006
I can't believe that I made these! They are delicious, the perfect blend of sweet and not-so-sweet. My mom always filled them with just whipped cream, but these are so much better with the pudding custard instead! Thanks for a great recipe, I will make this over and over again- I'm taking them to work tomorrow!
