Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2008
This stuff is soooo good! Very comforting. I used skim evaporated milk in place of regular milk and used leftover rice from dinner. I cooked it on a little bit lower heat for longer, simply to avoid burning the milk. Great with cinnamon and nutmeg, as others have suggested. Used regular raisins. Has a permanent place in our recipe box. Thank you so much!

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: May 25, 2008
These had the signature brownie top layer, which is awesome. However, the edges were crispy while the rest was soupy. And it sunk in the middle, like other reviewers have said. I think I'll keep searching.

Chocolate Bliss Brownies

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
Great brownie!!! Really surprised me! These are very thick, fudgey brownies. And so easy!...they only required one bowl! Everyone knows that the best part of any brownie recipe is the very middle of the pan. So these are best when they are taken out of the oven slightly underdone and still jiggly in the middle. If you do this, dont cut into them until they are completely cooled. At first, they appear to be cake-like without the signature "brownie top". Once they cool, they are denser and fudgey as a brownie should be. Dont overcook these, or they will be cakey. And don't be tempted to rate these until they have COMPLETELY COOLED! Oh, and trust me...dont try and cram the batter into an 8 or 9 inch square pan..you WILL overflow. A 9x13 pan IS required..they are PLENTY thick! I completely left off the frosting. Didn't even need it.

This was really good! So easy, and went great with our beef enchiladas. It was a tad on the chewy side, so next time I'll add just a little extra water. This has a permanent place in my recipe box.

We all loved these. Will most definately make these over and over again. I love the fact that all the hard work is done in the bread machine. Saves me tons of time.

We all really liked this. We added a can of diced tomotoes to the meat mixture. This dish would be really good with leftover chili in place of the meat mixture. This will have a definite place in our recipe box.

Country White Bread

This was pretty good. Awesome crust. I thought it was the best one on the site, until I tried "Simply White Bread II" on this site. I would recommend that one instead. This one is good, but "simply white bread II" is much softer and much better, and way easier.

Try adding 3-4 tablespoons of powdered buttermilk (found in the baking section). We find this bread so versitile, and it is also fantastic and light and HEALTHY all by itself. Thank you so much for this recipe.

Blueberry Cream Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
Very tastey! The didn't stick to the wrappers at all, which is normally the problem I have with muffin recipes. I had to use cream cheese because I didn't have sour cream. These were very good and not at all dry, I think it can be be a great base recipe. I can't wait to try them with peaces, and maybe chocolate chips.

I've never been so disappointed in a recipe before. This was sooo dry. So dry, that it took all the taste out of them.

Grandma Flo's Shipwreck

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
With some changes, this was a 5 star recipe. I boiled the sliced potatoes before putting them into the casserole dish. This BY FAR minimized baking time. Instead of kidney beans I used a 28 oz. can of baked beans. Also used a package of kielbasa sliced into coins instead of ground beef. It comes precooked, so you dont have to worry about raw meat being cooked all the way through. Bake for about 30-40 minutes until bubbly. Very good!! Everyone had seconds and thirds.

Grandma's Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
YUM!! Ive made this 3 times in the past week to perfect it. Here's what I've come up with. I used cake flour, and sifted it 3 times. I beat the butter and sugar for 5 minutes, then once all the eggs were added, beat it for another 5 minutes. And don't overmix the flour. These are the secrets to a perfect texture pound cake. Instead of sour cream, I used heavy whipping cream. Very moist, and has a lovely crust. My family's favorite. Thank you for a great recipe.

Delicate Lemon Pound Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
I was so excited to try this recipe. Im rating it a 4 for flavor alone. The carbonated soda really gives it a great lemon flavor. In fact, it has the most flavor of any other pound cake I've made. However, if I was to rate it on texture, Id have to rate a 2 or 3. It was soooo dry! And that surprised me. I won't be making this one again.

Heavenly Angel Food Cake

Seriously heavenly! Very light ad fluffy, just like the store bought kind. Great flavor. Left out the almond extract. I find it too strong. Just doubled the vanilla flavoring. Oh, and I did use cake flour instead of all-purpose. Resulted in a much lighter and fluffier cake.

Scrambled Egg Brunch Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2008
This was great! It was a fun way to get my picky-eater 3 year old to eat eggs. My husband actually raved about this one, and told me to keep this recipe handy. If I just rating "ease" of the recipe, I would have to rate a 4 though. The crescent dough became very gooey and hard to work with when it came time to wrap it up. I think next time I won't bother with cutting the strips, but instead just fold the sides over the top of the filling. This way I don't have to worry about filling oozing out of the sides of the seams. I love the fact that it is a budget-friendly meal with lots of leftovers. THANK YOU!!

Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie

These were wonderful. They were soft and chewy, while the edges had a light crunch. They held their shape and didn't flatten out. I can't stand a dry, cakey cookie, so my husband and I were appy with this recipe. And there isn't much to the recipe...very simple when you're in a cookie crunch.

These were surprisingly very good. They turned out a lot softer than I thought they would. I pictured them kinda hard and crunchy, but they were very soft and cooked through all the way just fine. Fantastic recipe. My husband even went for seconds, which is the seal of approval! Will make again and again. And sooo easy..
