Mix-Easy Oatmeal-Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
You'd never know that these were made from a cake mix. Flavor is fantastic, but I wonder if the timing or the temperature is off a little or something? My cookies never cooked all the way through, and they are VERY delicate coming off of the cookie sheet. And they stuck a little bit to the sheet. They cool down great though.

Hot Spiced Cider

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
This is soooo good! Totally omitted the brown sugar. Would probably be over kill. We made this in the crockpot, bundled up the oranges and the spices in coffee filters and let them float in the cider that way. After a few hours we removed them and let the cider continue cooking for a few more hours. It was outstanding. I put it back into the cider container and stored it in the fridge afterwards. Now we heat it up as we go. Everyone was "ooo" and "aahh" over this one.

Country Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Sooo good!! I love baking with buttermilk, and the flavor in this bread is unbeatable. No problems with dryness at all, even after a day or two. This disappeared pretty quick, and I already have requests for more! This will be a usual around here. Thank you for sharing this wonderfully easy and fantastic recipe.

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
I really don't know how to rate this one. It's really rich, and has a great chocolate taste. Other than that, it's just cake. Nothing overly special. I don't understand where the "elegant" comments are stemming from? It's a little on the dry side (just a bit), so next time I'll probably add a little sour cream for extra moisture.

Zesty Hot Sausage and Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
This was very filling and very tastey. We made it with keilbasa this time around. Is good with bbq sauce as well. And actually, leftovers are good heated up and fried on the stove a little bit and served with eggs. That is becoming a new favorite. We also like that this is economical. Makes a lot of food. Thanks for the post!!

Biscuits and Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
very home-like, very comforting, and very economical for us to make. We really like this. Sometimes we like to add ground sausage or ground beef for a little extra. And sometimes instead of biscuits, just for a change, we add a prepared box of cornmeal (or two) on top and bake that. Thanks for the post.

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
You mean NOT so soft sugar cookie. These were crunchy and very dry. They should be called Shortbread. These aren't a sugar cookie at all. they went into oven round, and came out round. They taste great, but texture is waaaaaay off. Sorry. This one is not good.

Black Bean and Rice Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
These are superb! We like these much better than the usual chicken or beef enchiladas. Instead of buying peppers and onions and all that separately, we substituted a cup of our favorite salsa in place of all of the beggies. It's all in the salsa anyway, already cut up for me, and Im saving a couple of bucks. We will keep this in our dinner rotation. Thanks so much!

Black and White Cookies I

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
Taste just like I remember growing up. I did use half&half in place of milk, for additional moisture, and added nutmeg. Once cooled, flip the cookie upside and frost the flat side. Much prettier. Even if the bottoms of your cookies are a little ugly, no biggie...the frosting will cover it. And I used store bought frosting, as we like that much better.

Slow Cooker Sausage with Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
Oh wow! This is very good!! The sausage was so tender, it melted in our mouths. We didn't have any problem with grease whatsoever, as other reviewers were worried about. And we followed the recipe to the letter. I can't wait to try this with meatballs for meatball subs! Thank you sooo much for this recipe! Leftover's are also great served over spaghetti the next day.

Great flavor. The texture isn't as dense as a normal butter cake, which I was a little disappointed about. Other than that, great.

Easy Cheap and Yummy Casserole

This was a hit with the entire family. I loved the fact that I didn't have to cut any food up for my 3 year old and 20 month old. Just plopped it on their plates and it was gone within minutes. Made the recipe as written, and it was very flavorful and very, very good. We will make this regularly.

Anna's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
I have tried a large number of chocolate chip cookie recipes on this site, and PHEW! I am finally done searching! This is a simple, chewy, very tastey chocolate chip cookie. I use 1/2 cup butter, and 1/2 cup butter flavored shortening in place of the 1 cup butter. the shortening gives it a little more shape, and keeps them from going flat. Thank you so much! Every time I make these my husband and my brother comment on how good these are. This is our go-to recipe for chocolate chip cookies. FINALLY! My search is over!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2008
This stuff is soooo good! Very comforting. I used skim evaporated milk in place of regular milk and used leftover rice from dinner. I cooked it on a little bit lower heat for longer, simply to avoid burning the milk. Great with cinnamon and nutmeg, as others have suggested. Used regular raisins. Has a permanent place in our recipe box. Thank you so much!
