I'm a 12 yr old who was inspired to cook by my Mum, who is a great cook who used to bake loads before she started University. I normally bake a couple of times a week, and love to try new recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Mmmmmmmmmmmm, obviously sweet things! Mostly cookies, flapjacks and muffins, though occasionally I make full-size cakes. I do cook main meals too, but I don't find it as satisfying as taking fresh baked cookies out of the oven . . . or having the lick :-) I try to cook healthy/low-fat things but every now and then I pull out all the stops and gorge myself on chocolate cookies!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking the same things we've been cooking since I was a toddler with my Mum: spice cookies, pizzas and bread (by hand).
My cooking triumphs
They've been a couple (flapjacks, my own recipe ff choc suprise cupcakes, Chocolate Cut-Out Cookies from this site) but I would have to say the first time I cooked alone. My Mum had gone out and as she walked in the door I had just taken a loaf of banana bread out of the oven - a recipe from this site. We had a big hug (aaaaaaah)and then proceeded to almost finish the loaf between the two of us ;-)
My cooking tragedies
As I like to experiment with cooking without fat, there's been a few: cookies that are more like dense, flat breads, muffins that refuse to rise . . . but the worst was when, making a chocolate pudding to top a couscous crust, I forgot to whisk in the cornstarch . . . we ate 3 pies worth of lumpy flour!
