Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
It's so yummy! It's perfect for a freezing cold day like today. I used whole milk because this was a last minute dinner, and I didn't have half and half. I added a few extra potatoes that I mashed up before putting into the soup to help thicken it a little bit. The kids liked it a lot. I suggest making more bacon so your family doesn't have to fight over it!

Ranch Oyster Crackers

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
These crackers are so awesome, everyone loves them! I omitted the lemon pepper but used everything else, and they were very flavorful and zesty! First, I coated my crackers in oil in a large plastic bag, then added the dry mixture to the bag and tossed them to coat. It is so easy, fast, and practically no clean-up.

Tomato Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
This dish is fantastic. The flavors are wonderful, and it went very well with an Italian themed pot luck at church. I made it exactly as the recipe stated, and everything was perfect. I will definitely make it again.

Zucchini and Potato Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
Delicious! I followed the recipe exactly, except added onions and cut the potatoes in slices, not chunks. It cooked in exactly one hour, and the flavor of the red peppers after roasting is amazing! I did not stir the vegetables at all during cooking, and I loved the way one side of the potato was extra cripsy and brown, while the other side was a bit softer, but not mushy at all. This dish is excellent and I would definitely make it again.

Pumpkin Apple Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
These are really nice muffins. I made them exactly as listed, except used brown sugar for the topping instead of white. They're a little on the sweet side, and not too strong of a pumpkin flavor, but everyone who had them loved them. The recipe made 24 muffins for me, and they took about 22 minutes to cook. I'll definitely make them again, probaby again at Thanksgiving time.

Spinach Dip I

Reviewed: May 14, 2007
I've been making this recipe for years, after having found it on the back of the Lipton Soup Mix box. It is delicious and great served with Honey Wheat Thins, Hawaiian Bread, or carrots. I've made it with Miracle Whip, too, which is great as well. Also, once I tried it with the water chestnuts, and I felt they ruined the dip.

Warm and Spicy Autumn Punch

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
Wonderful! I made this hot drink for Thanksgiving dinner today, in Japan! It tastes just like mulled Indiana apple cider, exactly what I was hoping to have! I did the orange step, but I found it to be a waste of time. I ended up only using three slices as garnish. Otherwise, everything else was perfect!

Tasty Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2006
This stir fry is great! It's such a fast and easy meal for a busy night. The recipe is wonderful as it is, except I didn't use any sage. I threw in cooked rice the last few minutes and made it into chicken fried rice.

Garlic Butter Sauce II

It's really easy and fast, and pretty good. I wish I would have had some fresh veggies to go with mine, and it would have been perfect.

Baked Apricot Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2006
Really good. I only had Western dressing and Peach Preserves, and it came out perfectly. The chicken (breasts) ware juicy and tender, just right! I served with rice on the side. I think if you pour it over the rice, every bite would be too sweet, so the savory rice helped to balance it. You'll enjoy this very fast/easy dish!

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2006
This soup is really awesome-a perfect recipe. I couldn't even wait for it to finish in the slow cooker, so I took some out and nuked it for lunch! My hubby will get to try it tonight after it simmers all day, and I am sure it will be even better then. I used crushed taco shells instead of making the tortilla strips, and they work very well.

Tender Tomato Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2006
This chicken is awesome! It is so tender and flavorful, and I think the longer you let it simmer, the softer the chicken becomes. It's perfect over rice or egg noodles, with any veggies you like. It's an easy hit for the whole family.

Pineapple Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2006
The bread is not too bad, but the cinnamon overpowers everything. I cannot really taste the pineapple at all, and overall, the bread is pretty bland. I made two loaves because everyone gave such great reviews, but I'm sad to say it was honestly a waste of my time and ingredients. I'll stick to my own zucchini bread recipe and the lemon bread recipe I found on this site when I'm looking for a light summer bread. I'll keep looking for a way to use pineapple in baking. Thanks anyway.

Sugar Cookie Glaze

Reviewed: May 29, 2006
This glaze tastes and looks great. It was a little difficult for my 3 year old to use himself, so I spread it on the cookies with a spoon, while he and my 2 year old daughter covered them with sprinkles. The 10 drops of food coloring makes really dark shades, so lighten up on the drops if you're looking for pastels.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: May 29, 2006
I am giving this recipe only 3 stars because it was impossible for me to peel them off my counter in any kind of shape, although the taste is about 4 stars. I don't know what I did wrong because I followed the recipe exactly and kept the dough in the fridge for several hours before attempting to make the shapes my kids had desired. I will stick to the other rolled sugar cookie recipe I have always used. I ended up covering them with "Sugar Cookie Glaze" from this site, which was really good and fun for the kids.

Vickie's Beer Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2006
I, too, was looking to recreate Tastefully Simple's bread because I live in Japan now and can't get it here! This bread is definitely a great substitute. I don't have self-rising flour, so I followed the directions given by reviewer SynevaB on 12/18. Also, I used ginger ale, which is delicious, and I only needed to cook mine for 38 minutes. It was perfectly moist! Tonight, I also made "Kettle Corn" from this site, and it is awesome, too!

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2006
This kettle corn is awesome! It's the perfect blend between salty and sweet, my favorite combinations. I followed the directions by one reviewer: PabloJR who wrote on 11/30/05. Do as he says and you'll be completely satisfied! Tonight, I also made "Vickie's Beer Bread" and it's wonderful, too!

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2006
This soup is delicious! You will love it! Chicken soup is the one kitchen basic I have never been able to master, but now I can! I added fresh garlic, carrots, 5 whole peppercorns, and 1/2 tsp. each of basil and oregano, plus left out the corn starch. Also, I used about half the salt per other reviewers suggestions. It's perfect for this cold, rainy night!

Scalloped Pineapple

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2005
Do NOT use all of the butter or sugar called for in this recipe. I did not read the reviews ahead of time, and after my casserole came out too greasy and way too sweet, I decided to see what others had said. I would use only 1/2 stick of butter and 1 cup sugar. I could hardly taste the pineapple, which should have been the best part.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: May 9, 2005
These cookies are pretty good. I left out the cocoa because I did not have any, and I added 6 extra p.b. cups because they are my favorite candy bar ever. Next time I'll try making them with cocoa and see which ones I like better. They are very sweet and rich. My kids and hubby liked them a lot.
