About this Cook
I am in my late 50's and 4 years ago married my high school sweetheart, so I am now living back in my home town. I have 3 children, all grown. I've been a teacher for 35 years, with 2 more to go. I enjoy golf (on good days), scrapbooking, reading, and my two wonderful grandchildren. I hadn't cooked for myself in a long time, so when Steve and I got married, I really have been making up for lost time. Then I found this web site and I really am "going to town" with my cooking. I love this place
My favorite things to cook
We enjoy pasta - my seafood lasagna is to die for! We also like Italian, Mexican, BBQ, and I'm learning to cook fish. I do alot of vegetable dishes. My husband doesn't really like salads, so I don't fix them as often as I'd like.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My daughter and her husband and children have a lot of relatives houses to visit over the Christmas holidays, so we have started having a breakfast brunch on Christmas morning. We all look forward to it because it's not a heavy meal. She really makes a good french toast casserole.
My cooking triumphs
Steve and I have our "Top Ten" list and in 4 years together, I think we need to expand it further. I would say seafood lasagna, eggs benedict (although sometimes I have trouble with the sauce), peppermint pie, buttermilk chocolate cake, beef stroganoff, corn & noodles.......
My cooking tragedies
I think my worst mess was about 15 years ago. My two sons wanted porcupine meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy for Christmas dinner. I thought, well, a little strange, but they were hungry for it. So I prepared the meatballs, took everything over to my daughter's house and proceeded to cook them. I doubled the recipe because there were 6 of us. It didn't work well, the meatballs on the bottom were burned and the ones on top were not cooked long enough. Even with stirring them, it was way too many at one time.

Cream Peas
I didn't believe this recipe because it sounded too good to be true,so I went back and read the reviews. OK, I'm a believer. It was the creamiest, best tasting cream pea recipe I have ever tasted. Kudos Steph and Don!!!

Green Bean and Mushroom Medley
Absolutely wonderful. Added more carrots and used lemon pepper seasoning instead of salt. Made this with bacon mushroom swiss meatloaf from this site. Will be a regular in our house!
