Roast Pork with Maple and Mustard Glaze

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2008
The only thing I changed on this recipe was that I used maple flavored pancake syrup instead of actual maple syrup because I already had it, however, I'm sure the real stuff would be even better! This was very flavorful and juicy. My guests loved it.

Such a classic! My uncle taught me to make this before I was even in school. We always called it "Egg in a Hole".

Original Homemade Italian Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
After reading the reviews here is my take on this recipe. First I put sliced onions and green bell peppers on the bottom of the slow cooker. Then the roast on top. I also added some fresh mushrooms, the banana peppers and half the juice from them, minced garlic and just one packet of the italian seasoning. When done cooking I shredded, piled high on some good quality buns topped with provolone and ran under the broiler for a couple minutes to toast the bread and melt the cheese. So good!

Beer Chops I

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
I thought this was really good. However, I did not fix in the slow cooker. I put sliced onions in the bottom of a casserole dish. Laid in the pork chops, sprinkled with black pepper and a little garlic powder, poured in the beer, covered with foil and cooked in the over for about 40 minutes. They fell apart they were so tender and the flavor was really good.

Shrimp and Avocado Cocktail

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
I loved the idea of this recipe, but wanted it to come out a bit chunkier and not so much like a dip, so I added another extra avocado, chunked largely and only about 1/4 cup of the cocktail sauce. Also, a little fresh ground pepper. I served in martini glasses with extra shrimp garnishing the side of the glass. It turned out beautifully and tasted incredible.

Cranberry Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
I thought this was very good. I didn't have an orange on hand so I just used a couple of tablespoons of orange juice instead. Love the cranberry flavor. Excellent served with a side dish of stuffing.

Chicken Caesar Pasta

I made this basically as is except for the chicken. I used some lemon pepper seasoned chicken breasts that I grilled, which I really thought gave it a nice flavor.

E-Z Volcano Shrimp Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
We made this for New Years Eve and thought it was excellent, however, I did change up the recipe some. I thought that just the cream cheese and lemon juice sounded a bit bland so I instead mixed together the cream cheese, lemon juice, worcestershire, hot sauce and some cracked black pepper. Then instead of salad shrimp I used large shrimp cut into thirds. I then made the cocktail sauce as directed. We served with fritos scoops because it is a pretty thick dip and the crackers wanted to break.

I thought these were very very bland and completely dry. I think the basis of the recipe is a good concept, but definitely needs alot of work to jazz them up.

London Broil

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2008
I made this close to the original recipe. I omitted the MSG, used dried parsley instead of fresh and omitted the tarragon vinegar because I didn't have it. Instead I used a teaspoon of balsamic vinegar and a teaspoon of worchestershire sauce. Also, instead of grilling them I broiled them because it is January and freezing outside. I also wrapped a strip of bacon around them before broiling. So good!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
I made this rub just as the recipe said. I did rub my chicken all over with olive oil first. Then put the rub on and instead of roasting in the oven I actually cooked it in my showtime rotisserie. It was juicy and fell right off the bone.

Spicy Pretzels

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2007
I thought this were really really good! And I'm not even a huge pretzel fan. I made these for a bach. party and everyone loved them and wanted the recipe. I did use the pretzel twists and since already salted I used garlic powder instead of salt. I also marinated mine overnight and then baked at 250 for 8 minutes the next morning.

Baby Blue Punch

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
I made this yesterday for a baby shower, however, I did make a few changes mostly because I couldn't find the ingredients needed. I could not find the blue drink mix, so I instead used a jug of the Blue Hawaiian Punch, the lemon lime soda and then white grape juice because I could not find white cranberry juice. Everyone loved it!!! And it was so cute with the ducks floating in it. **I've since made this for Halloween using the green Hawaiian punch and floated those black plastic spider rings in it. Too cute!**

Spicy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2007
We thought this was pretty good. I also added more pepper flakes because we like spicy and 1/2 the amount of orange zest, which I thought was perfect. I was out of sherry, so just used 1/4 cup of white wine. And I added extra garlic just because I like it.

Thai Pineapple Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2006
I thought this was really good. I too added three chicken breasts instead of two and I used crushed pineapple instead of chunks. I could have standed for it to be a little more spicy though. I will adjust that next time.
