I WANT ONE OF THESE!
About this Cook
I'm a self-taught baker since I was 12. I learned over my summer vacation to occupy myself while my brother was out with his buddies, and my ma was at work. I love the theraputic affect of baking, and the way a simple dessert can be turned into a work of art.
My favorite things to cook
pastries, muffins, and bread
My cooking triumphs

My cooking tragedies

Pecan Squares Cookies
Awesome! Tasted just like pecan pie, and my boyfriend loved them! Must try it if you havent! I did, however cut the corn syrup down to 1 cup, as suggested my others...

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
Awesome! I did as other reviewers did and decreased the flour to about 2 cups and increased the PB to almost 1 cup. I sell my baked goodies for extra cash and these are one of the top sellers! I added toffee bits instead of choco chips. ***My big secret to successful cookies: ALWAYS substitute 1/2 the ammount of butter called for in any recipe with shortening!!*** This makes them lighter and puff up more while still having the richness from the butter. Also, ALWAYS chill dough first to keep from spreading too much!

Banana Sour Cream Bread
As other reviewers have said, the baking times are a bit off. Also, I substitute some brown sugar for the white, which may be the reason for that(?). The batter makes much more than I thought, and the cooking time takes longer than stated-maybe 1 1/2 hrs, but TOTALLY WORTH IT!! I give myself a pat on the back for very few things, one of them being my baking and cooking capabilities(almost to a point of arrogance!). I sell my baked goodies at work and this, along with "moms zucchini bread", have given me a new regular! She wants 2 loaves of each every week! One to share with others at work and the rest for her and her son. Everyone at work raves about it! Thank you for this recipe!!
