I am a 30-year old attorney living in New York City with very little time or incentive to cook. I have been trying to cook at least once or twice a week. Living in such a foodie city, I love to eat!
My favorite things to cook
I like making all types of food, including indian, italian, asian, old-school american, etc. I make a mean turkey burger and oven baked fries (though my husband has gotten to be a pro) and have a signature rice and beans dish. Recently, my husband and I have been more ambitious and cooking restuarant-style meals at home -- steak, duck, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I started a tradition of cooking Christmas Eve meals at home (even though neither one of us is Christian!) and opening our presents one by one. Instead of one big gift, we get small, thoughtful gifts so the gift-opening and eating lasts all night!
My cooking triumphs
I finally succeeded in making a yummy cheesecake! Also, I've learned how to make my own tomato sauce so I've been able to cook quite delicious eggplant and chicken parmesan.
My cooking tragedies
Too numerous to list. My favorite type of food is Indian (both my husband and I are South Asian) yet I have never once made a decent curry (unless I use a box mix). I once made a simple but what I thought decent indian meal for my in-laws. Turns out my mother-in-law hated what I made and the lack of variety, so I consider this a true tragedy.
