My family
About this Cook
I have two daughters and I am a single mom. I have always enjoyed cooking and baking. My father and grandparents are from Belgium where my grandfather was a pastry chef. My grandmother is (in my eyes) an excellent borderline gourmet cook making European dishes to die for! My mother's side of the family was more traditional American and I have wonderful recipes from them too! But, my favorite thing to do, besides feed my family, is ENTERTAIN! I love having people over for football games, home parties, holidays and birthdays. Any chance I get, I host!
My favorite things to cook
Anything Italian (even though my family is French). Italian food is just so flavorful and something usually everyone likes!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Christmas cookies, of course!!!
My cooking triumphs
My very first Thanksgiving dinner I made at my first home. Everything was picture perfect and delicious.
My cooking tragedies
The first meatloaf I ever made. I remember we had my mother over and she and my (now ex) husband laughed and said we could save it for the first brick of a home we could someday build. I was crushed (and threw some frozen fish sticks in the oven) but now, after hundreds of meatloaves, it's the dish I'm always asked to make, especially by my kids, and they're the only opinions I care about!

Alfredo Mostaccioli
I've been making this recipe almost exactly for years! The only difference is I use 1 quart of milk and 1/2 pint of heavy cream, reserving one cup for the end. I do let the sauce thicken more and then I bake it in a lasagna dish. This was my Italian husband's family recipe. It really is WONDERFUL!

Shortbread Cookies II
WOW! These are amazing cookies. Such a simple recipe too! I was going to dip them half in chocolate but they were all gone by the time I got around to it. I used different sized biscuit cutters (just simple circles with a scalloped edge) and they looked so elegant! Thanks for the great recipe I'll be making a lot!!!

Cookie Balls
My friend gave me this recipe years ago except it just called for chocolate chips melted in the microwave. My daughter made them for a cookie contest in Girl Scouts and won for her troup and district and took second in regionals! She was young at the time and could make this recipe all by herself with minimal help from mom. :) We did melt white choc chips too and drizzled across the milk choc for appearance. They are delicious!!!
