About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking tasty dishes that you'd expect to order at an upscale restaurant. On busy days, I like throwing together casseroles. They're a whole meal in one and you can hide veggies in them without the kids noticing.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Food has always brought my family together. You can always count on a huge flavorful meal with lots of leftovers when you're a guest at our family events.
My cooking triumphs
Nothing too big although I've become a little more confident about cooking without a recipe and just adding a little bit of this and that to my own liking.
My cooking tragedies
Haven't had a cooking tragedy yet but I guess there's a first time for everything.

Slow Cooker Cheesy Tortellini
This was good. It just wasn't great. I liked the idea of letting the meat slow cook on low with the tomatoes and the pasta sauce, but by 7 hours most of the liquidy sauce had evaporated leaving me with a thick, sticky coating on the tortellini. It was still a decent meal - just didn't have the "wow" factor I was expecting.

Mother's Ham Casserole
Creamy goodness! Although it took quite a bit of prep time, it was a nice change from the canned soup casseroles. I increased the servings to 6 and followed the recipe exactly, only I did add broccoli florets for extra veggies. Tasted even better the following day!

B and L's Strawberry Smoothie
This is an excellent smoothie recipe as written and it's also very versatile! When I want more of a "breakfast smoothie", I add half of a banana and 1/2 cup of rolled oats for extra fiber and texture!! Put the rolled oats in first to grind them up extra fine before adding the rest of the ingredients! Yum!
